Thank you all for sharing your kind messages. After getting ourselves worked up, it ended up being quite a non-event. The consultant explained there had been an issue with the admin since our last appointment meaning the scan had not been booked. He thanked us for travelling over to see him and went on to repeat the same information we were given last time 🙈 he has accepted our decision to not proceed with surgery at this time and said we will need to go back again in 6 months and for an MRI in between. So that was £7 car parking, same again on the shop for lunch and treats for eldest and a day off work for what could have been a telephone call.
Looking on the bright side, eldest has breathing space again and we really shouldn’t bemoan being one of the fortunate families walking away from the hospital for treats and a drive home. This was inconvenient but nothing compared to what some families are going through in the same building.
I am so pleased to be home for the weekend. The heated blanket is back on and I have a good book to get stuck into. Happy Friday everyone 😊8 -
Sometimes non-events are the best. Enjoy your weekend and relax.

I’m happy for you that it was a bit of a non event, but appreciate that you’d probably psyched yourself up for it too.
Enjoy your relaxing evening and weekend.
Find a little bit of joy in every day.

Eldest came downstairs last night to say he’d like to re-do the day as he felt he’d messed it up with being in a bad mood. He was very stressed out so he really doesn’t need to apologise, but it wasn’t too enjoyable hearing his loop of moans and groans 😂
I had a good reset with a very lazy dinner of pizza (unplanned and very out of character for us but Mr D and I shared the cost from our personal spends), followed by a hot bath with candle, face mask and book. It should be a quiet weekend which is welcome.
Woke up to a little Vinted sale of £3. All extras will be going to the new shower fund now. As it really helped keep the momentum going tracking my EF pot here, I will do the same again. Our aim is £600 as we want a new shower unit, cubicle and tray plus some other small replacement items for the bathroom, such as tap and towel rail. Mr D will do the work himself all being well, so it’s the cost of parts we are saving for. It may be we alter this amount as we select the actual items we want, but for now this is our starting figure.
Starting amount £163/£600. (Random figure I know, but every pound has a job in this house 😂)Now we would ideally get this work done over the Easter holiday when we have 2 weeks off but that’s only one pay day away. I will see how much I can throw at it this month, and decide how best to approach it. We have a 0% CC with points so in theory could borrow and pay back with the next few months’ money we’ve planned to save for it. Credit cards are my least favourite way of financing anything though so I’m not sure I’m comfortable with this. We have money in other sinking funds that I’m feeling protective of as they all have a job. I’m not touching the emergency fund! To be decided…
