I asked Virgin to close an account recently. Among other credits I received was one entitled 'Cb' which took me a long time to solve who it was from......answer Virgin Bank. Not really good enough is it ?

CB is what Clydesdale Bank has been using for years. Virgin Money is merely a Marketing brand, which is likely to disappear over time, too, as the licence to use the VM brand expires around 2028-2030.

Your relationship is with Clydesdale Bank plc, and always has been.

Nationwide acquired Virgin Money in October 2024.

It is currently in the process of merging the businesses, with a planned formal/legal transfer of Virgin Money's operations into Nationwide - that is what is due in April.

Nationwide has got Clydesdale (also Yorkshire), also known as Virgin Money.

The most recent brand licensing agreement for Clydesdale to use the Virgin name runs for six years from October 2024, so expires in October 2030.

I've all but given up with Virgin. Too annoying having several platforms with some working on the app and some only working on the web.

Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank licenced the Virgin Money name and used that in preference to their original names. In that context, Nationwide purchased Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and will phase out using the Virgin Money brand.
