EE Dirty Tricks?

My husband just signed up for an  MSE recommended sim only monthly plan with Lebara.. Good deal, free roaming and 10gb data.

He applied for his EE PAC code and today EE rang him to offer him an improved deal with them ( not as good as Lebara)  but also warned him that if he went over his data allowance with Lebara they would charge him £92 per gb and said that's how lebara make their money.

From what I can tell this £92 per gb is not applicable to monthly sim only plans and  I spoke to an agent on Lebara chat who confirmed that, but hubby is now not sure about changing, even though the chances of going over his allowance are remote.

Anyone here know for sure? Thanks

The Lebara excess data charge seems only to apply to roaming where your usage abroad exceeds your domestic use (rather bizarre rule if that is true!).
Lebara roaming charges if you use more data outside the UK than within over a 120 day period : r/LebaraUK

Even if he was looking like going over his allowance (the app tells you your usage), my Lebara app actually lets me buy bolt ons.

    2GB for £3
    5GB for £5
    20GB for £10.

    He is worrying about nothing.

We have Lebara on 2 phones - excellent customer service. You can set the limits so that you do not go over.
I only have only had one issue - called them up. They issued a credit immediately and gave me another credit to compensate which was above and beyond. As soon as you apply for PAC code you will be offered deals to stay. Assume the people who try and get you to stay will have incentives to reward if they keep you.

In my experience, Lebara has very poor customer service and some technical problems but don't charge that much per GB.

Recently , they had a problem with porting leaving people with no service.

Something that happened to me and to several others on here (see the threads) is where they claim there's a processing issue with a payment, they take it 24 hours later but this loses you any discounts or promotions and therea nothing the customer service can do about it.

Yep, simply lies to try and get you to stay signed up to their expensive contracts that will increase in March.  The cheaper the contract the higher the % increase because it is a fixed £ amount.  Binned them a few years back because of their increase policies - if you were on a reduced cost contract the increase was against the full price, we were on £15 for £5 so 3 times the % increase applied - and glad I did not go back to them on their too good to be true contracts offered when Plusnet ceased mobile.  Nothing special about EE though, all the major networks are a load of lying con artists - I know an elderly person who was mugged by Vodafone over a new phone contract, lets just say they certainly didn't need the latest high tech model !
With Lebara if you do not have a top up authorised you will not be able to go over your data allowance.

And I have just found out they also sold them a premium tablet with data contract which will mainly be used for messaging and Faceache and will never leave the house and they do have wifi at home.

Early hours of Thursday I went on the EE website to get PAC codes for 3 accounts, first 2 went through a bit slow to load
    each page but it worked.

The 3rd account though kept failing to load the pages, seemed like it didn't want to give me the PAC for that final account.
Eventually it loaded and gave me the PAC.

All good until 8:30am when all 3 phones rang out at the same time, we ignored them but 4pm they all rang out again.
They seem eager to want to talk but I know they will not beat the £1.60 with Lebara so pointless talking to them.
