@Taff - I'm remote enough but...if you want even more remote then try this place.@DP1 - that zoo thing sounds wonderful, such a great experience for the children. Even a snake??? Well done that little one.I've been out to the barn four times to bring in logs, filled up three big bags, the thing by the fire and the fire itself. Now I'm content and cosy - hope all others are too.12

Hi everyone,
We had a flood from the washing machine this morning, the outside pipe was frozen. Luckily I had the cupboard door open where the machine lives so I spotted it before too much damage happened.
Camelot, well done on using up all the veg etc. I need to sort myself out food and budget wise. After cooking and providing for 4 adults (2 with very healthy appetites) I am finding it hard to switch back to cooking for two. I also need to run down the freezers and try to use them more productively.
We've managed to do most of the jobs we intended to although I've told Steve to put his plan to replace the from door threshold on hold, it's far too cold. Whether he'll listen to me is another matter.
We had a lovely meal at the Parker's Arms in the Forest of Bowland. It's been on TV a few times (Hairy Bikers for one) and the food is always lovely. I had crab bisque and pheasant pie and my only regret is that Patrick Grant from sewing bee had posted on his instagram that he had been in there for lunch the previous day.
Have a good day.13 -
Afternoon all.
Lots of snow this morning. It started snowing yesterday evening, and when DH took Bigdog out he said he looked at it in wonder, not sure he likes it though.
Spent this morning taking all the decs down and DH is now putting them away in tubs ready to store (in his man shed). He still has the outside lights to take down, but will wait until they're not frozen.
Garlic and herb chicken tonight, with chips and coleslaw for him, and a jacket potato for me, maybe some salad on the side if we want it. Steak and kidney cooking ready for a pie tomorrow.
Take care all in this weather, it's bright and sunny now but so cold. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Hi all, late one from me - thanks for the start @Gers x
I decided to walk into the next town today which took me 1hr, 20mins each way. Have had such a low step count the past two days this more than made up for it. Took two loaf bags of soft plastics plus some cash to deposit from a FBMP sale. The machine rejected the cash but the cashier took it, so not sure if it was due to folds or the notes are fake - again! Will wait to see. Picked up some iron supplements plus some toothpaste and floss and headed home. I stopped in my village cafe for a coffee to thaw out (and use the facilities) and now home warm and toasty.
Two washloads have been on - second one just finishing. Dinner will be tuna pasta bake with green beans.
Glad the party was fun @dp1 and there is always one child.......
Annoying about the loft noise @Gers - no loose flashing on the roof etc.?
@snoozer - I met PG on his book tour - we had a selfie and I got a book dedication
Don't blame you not litter picking yesterday @mehefin - I saw loads on my walk today but didn't have a suitable bag to pick it up. Might go later in the week.
Go steady out there everyone - we don't want any more poorlies xx

@Gers - No birds or squirrels bowling on the roof. Our noise turned out to be pigeons dropping a rock or two on the roof. No sea birds to drop the shells from dinner up there.
