Morning all
Very cold and frosty here but no snow , they are saying we might get some Wednesday or Thursday. I am off to work at mums today luckily it’s only 4 houses along as I wouldn’t fancy driving in this till it clears a bit.
My flooring is being delivered today and the worktop Wednesday and then it’s just a case of OH finding the time to do the work, they sometimes finish a job and then have a couple of days before the next one so that might work in our favour.
Ive got some salmon out for dinner tonight, I might do a salmon and egg fried rice with peas and sweetcorn.
Stay safe if you need to go out xx
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Cue song..." here we go round the mulberry bush"...etc etc.
No snow but sharp white frost. Water tanks frozen- had to take a hammer to the ice to break it
-however all the internal buckets were good - its really cold when they freeze up!! Frost was still on the field where the sun hadn't reached yesterday afternoon
A quiet day yesterday just sorting through 'junk' from various cupboards - 6 remembrance day poppies!! Why? Gave litter picking a miss as it was so cold in the lane
Choir starts again tonight and I'm looking forward to singing Faure's Requiem again. It's one of my favourites.
Life is creeping back to normality for many with the new working week/year - it is just another day for me.
Hugs to those who need or want them. Keep warm if you can.

Good morning everyone
The skittering of snow yesterday was supplemented by more of the white stuff overnight so it's very cold and slippery underfoot this morning.
I tried to lag my outside pipe yesterday with some sort of insulating wrap, still had some ice inside the pipe this morning so have been out with the jug of warm water to try to defrost it. Hopefully it will be ok.
I've got some ironing to do later and I will give the kitchen floor a mop, exciting times. After that I'm going to look at the finances.
Thoughts with the sad, lonely or poorlies.
Take care x13 -
Morning all, we had snow about midnight then the temperature dropped so now it's frozen underfoot too. The sun is out though so I'm hoping it will defrost our steps just enough so that we can put the bins out later, I have some salt at hand if that doesn't happen.
I wanted to go to town this morning to pay in a cheque at the bank but that can wait a couple more days, it's -4 degrees and far to cold for me, our heating will be doing overtime today !
Since my plans for today have been scuppered I'm at a loose end, I like to organise my days or I'd just vegetate, but I'm sure I'll find something to keep me amused. I might sort out my freezers...... again.
Stay safe and warm everyone. Take care and hugs to all those in need.

Morning all and a Happy New Year. Not been posting due to this horrible virus wiping us out. Still got a horrendous cough but am daring to hope after 10 days it should be on its way. Poor Lennydog has had his walks cut short, quick trip to the park only, and after that I'm fit for nothing apart from reading or watching tv.Very little cooking going on, or eating for that matter.Glad L.O birthday celebrations went well @dp1, sorry you're having problems with DM.We have a light sprinkling of snow, clear bright skies and -3Hugs for SSue and SO, take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
We have a covering of snow this morning. I need to pop into town so I'm hoping the buses into town are ok.
Gers - the mobile zoo we had for little ones' party came from Newcastle, she arrived early in case there was more snow here and was surprised to see we hadn't had any. The party was a huge success and little one loved it, even having a snake round her neck at one point! She loved being the hostess, meeting everyone at the door and then, at the end, went back to the door and thanked everyone for coming. We had 15 children who were all very well behaved, apart from one who was a right pain...I had said he would be...but his mum was there so not a lot we could do.
They all loved holding the animals and the lady and her daughter doing it were lovely with them, they also organised games with them with lots of little packets of sweets for prizes....then we let them run wild with balloons for the last 15 minutes.
My last day off work today, I'm planning on going over the road to my friends house this afternoon for a catch up.
Hope everyone has a good day x13 -
Morning! Brass monkeys here, fire is already lit. The ground is frozen solid so I have to get some cat litter otherwise the little girl will be stressed, and I have to drop off the heart monitor but other than that, I predict no other outside happenings today. I may chop up some kindling, or I may not. Thank god for heating. I don't envy anyone being outside today. Also have to do a freezer trawl and find something for supper now my oracle has gone back to work..I must insist on something with a lot of veg though, I'm craving some. .I may make a start on taking down the decorations [ one tree and a painted fromt window] but the tree will be going to the allotment to go in one of the dead hedges, so no waste there. For 13.99 from Lidl [ the cheapest tree I have ever purchased] it did not do too badly...Gers, how weird, no trees nearby or vents in there? If the wind is strong a vent will bang a bit sometimes...It's the only thing I can think of..And your bothy barn is safe, we'll find somewhere more remote..
Allie, good ot hear you're super prepared, enjoy the tme away! dp1, sounds like a good time was had indeed
Sorry to the lurigied and such, take care today with everything! ner sner here as Nels would say...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi14 -
Good morning to you all, -4 here when I got up this morning, and it's been snowing on and off on top of the snow we already have. I wouldn't normally mind but this afternoon I have my pre-op appointment at the hospital and it's an hours drive away ( they don't do my op at my local hospital) Just hoping we can get there as the main road leading in to Great Yarmouth is an accident black spot, still onwards and upwards and the scenery is going to be lovely covered in all this white stuff!12

Morning all, thanks @Gers for today's start. Nice to see new people on here too.
A rinse and repeat day of bright blue sky, sunshine and frost although that may change tomorrow - the threatened snow is getting nearer! My heating is on but I have my dressing gown on over my clothes (for now) until the living room warms up a bit more. Outside is -2. Brr.
Yesterday I sent off a grocery order for delivery tomorrow and also ordered a new kettle - the current one sprung a (not fixable) leak from the water viewing window some time ago and, as we all know, electricity and water aren't a good mix.
I also paid off my credit card balance (in full) so I have a clean start to the new year.
There's quite a bit more traffic around today as things return to normal although I think the primary school opposite still has another day to go before opening again. My NDNs are back at work and their dog was howling for a short while earlier on; he's obviously got used to them being at home over the Xmas break and is missing them. The communal cleaners have just been too, another sign of normality. I have nothing in particular planned for today but am sure I can find something to occupy my time.
Dinner tonight is a beef stir fry with noodles.
@Gers - I'm glad your chap didn't find anything wrong with the loft or roof but the not knowing what the noise is would still be annoying.
@Izzy - Fingers crossed your bed-bound friend is in better spirits today. I don't miss work either.
@nanny - I hope your hand isn't as painful today, please be careful going down those steps!
@Molly - Good luck with your pre-op appointment - that's if you get there! Drive carefully.
Stay safe and warm everyone, take care and remember to give yourself some TLC if you're under the weather. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Morning all, chilly start but lovely in the sun.
tip run and shopping done and friends here for dinner tonight and that’s about it!
Take care allCarolbee13
