Afternoon all, thanks @Gers for today's start. It's a beautiful crisp winter's day, no snow thankfully, but extremely cold. The 'feels like' temperatures are below freezing all day, down to as much as -9 tonight. Eek! Extra layers of clothing definitely needed.
Back to normality today. The WM is chugging away now that I have a full load and, like @Izzy, will be drying it on the airer. I was going to leave the Xmas tree etc up until Monday but have decided to make that this afternoon's job. The living room is in need of a dust/vac and it will be much easier to do once all the extra bits have gone. I'm leaving the twinkly lights on the hearth for now though so it won't look so bare - a bit of light and sparkle are always welcome during the winter days.
Despite lots of decluttering last year, I'm still finding stuff that can go and have made a start on the first of this year's CS donation bags - a jigsaw puzzle and four packs of metallic embroidery thread that came as freebies with a crafting magazine. It's incredibly difficult to work with, so may as well benefit someone who's more skilled and has more patience than I have.
I've been working my way through the oddments in my yarn stash to knit a multi-coloured throw and, once that's done, any remaining bits can go in the bag too.
On the food front, I've taken a small quiche out of the freezer to go with tonight's picky bits and, if I add some side salad, it will be more of a proper meal. I'll be making leek & potato soup this weekend and - wonder of wonders - actually have room to freeze some!
@dp1 - Happy birthday to LO, I hope she has a wonderful time at the panto.
I hope everyone has a good day and that those with coughs, sneezes, sniffles etc soon recover. Take care, stay safe and warm. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Good afternoon everyone
It's very cold and icy but no snow fortunately. I was up and out early to do some shopping and then to visit my Sil.
I was out before daylight to check if my condensate pipe had iced up, fortunately it hadn't but I've ordered some insulating tape so that hopefully I can avoid any problems. To be honest if you'd have mentioned a condensate pipe to me a couple of years ago I'd have thought it was part of my anatomy! Everyday is a learning curve.
Just going out to check my plants in the greenhouse and then it will be a nice cuppa and feet up for the rest of the day.
Thoughts with the sad, lonely and poorlies.
Take care x11 -
Hi everyone,
Wicked Lady, if we weren't in Yorkshire you'd be passing within a couple of hundred yards of our house (supposing you go down the A1) we're only 3 miles from Biggleswade.
Mehefin, I'm filled with admiration (and my eyes are watering at the thought) at your efforts with the litter picking.I was only out in the wind for a few minutes and my sinuses drove me in.
I've booked Steve's 70th birthday weekend, we're going to Center Parcs, the whole family plus his sister so we have booked two lodges next to each other. It's not long to wait, his birthday is the 8th of February.
Keep warm everyone.10 -
@dp1 - Happy Birthday to Little One! We may have to start calling her by another name soon. Little Big one maybe.8
