Morning all.
The sun's out here but it's still cold. Yesterday DH was out dancing at his Morris side's local pub so I dressed up warm to watch outside. It was quite a gathering of people and I saw someone I hadn't seen for years. When we got home we tried some of the duck but I found it rather disappointing and will bin the last little bit.
Today we're off to the Panto with the grandchildren. It's a short children's one so only an hour but last year's was very enjoyable. We only have the Christmas cards to take down but that can wait until Sunday. We've each chosen a mini leftovers meal out of the freezer so will have that later, maybe with added veg.
Hugs to all.13 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
A bright start here. I’m off out to the local market town later - need to get some light bits to send to Dad overseas. Other than that it’s the usual washing and some ironing to sort out today.DH has a cholesterol conversation booked in this morning - it’s over the phone. Will see what comes of that.I’ve booked us for a Wassail at the local orchard in a few weeks time - haven’t been before so it will be interesting. There will be a Morris side plus a cider stall 😊
Dinner is spaghetti bolognaise in an attempt to eat sensibly again after the excess of the last few weeks!Happy Birthday to your Dad @AlwaysAllie x Mine will be 86 in April and has said he won’t be travelling again, so I need to arrange a trip out at some point this year.Hugs and thoughts to those who are struggling - be that health-wise or emotionally. It’s a tough time of the year for lots of us xx
Have a good day

Morning all, no snow here yet. I missed posting yesterday as I wasn't well and slept most of the time. Mr Fix It is still hobbling and his face has gone a lovely shade of yellow to go with his black eye so no going out today, we had hoped to visit the garden centre but will stay in the warm instead.
There was a kerfuffle in our trees last night as the magpies were going nuts, then I heard Ernie the owl about ! We used to have 2 owls Bert and Ernie who called to each other, but now we only seem to hear one of an evening.
Mr Fix It saw movement in his shed early this morning and on inspection he found it was a robin. He opened the door but it seems he/she can get in and out without using the door. Thank goodness it's not rats or mice which always a worry when you live half way up a mountain.
Today is an open book but there's always plenty of pottering to do. Tea tonight may be some lo beef and chips, I'm going to try to use up food from the freezer/ cupboard before I buy any more. We're still working our way through some of the xmas food ! Best laid plans and all that...... 🤞there could be some interesting meals ahead.
dp1 I can't believe that your little one is almost 7, where does the time go.
Have a lovely day if you or yours have a birthday, take care if you have to go out. Hugs to anyone in need and healing vibes to the poorly ones.

Morning all, thanks @Gers for today's start. It's another bright and sunny day here but very cold and the 'feels like' temperatures are below freezing all day.
I shall be hibernating for a wee while! No snow yet but, since I have a hairdresser appointment on Friday, it will more than likely arrive in time for that.
I had a very lazy day yesterday and didn't end up with too many leftovers from dinner; I'll use those up tomorrow for a picky tea but today it will be the usual Friday fish dinner. I think my tummy will be glad of something plainer after all the festive rich food.
One thing I did manage to do was to frame the finished cross stitch; I had a frame but needed a mount for it, so I had a go at making a DIY version from some white card and it doesn't look too bad. In the afternoon I had a phone call from my SiL and one from DS to let me know they're driving from Milton Keynes to Yorkshire today.
Today should feel a bit more normal as I'll be doing the Friday admin and I could do with working out some kind of a loose meal plan for the coming week too; there's certainly enough in the freezer to go at! As always, I'm planning on January being a low-spend month for groceries.
@AA - Happy birthday to your DF, I hope his hospital appointment goes well.
@TA - Our revised bin collections actually went to plan this year, a pleasant surprise.
@Coxy - The Wassail experience should be interesting and something to look forward to. Will you be sampling the cider stall?
Thanks all for the hugs and kind words; I wasn't sure how I'd feel over a solo festive period but it wasn't too bad. All part and parcel of yet another 'new' phase in life's cycle.
Have a good day and wrap up warm if you're out and about, take care and stay safe. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all
No snow here 😩 but it’s very cold, we are off to my sisters later for our postponed Christmas, I made the tiramisu and cooked the meat yesterday and made some gravy in the roasting pan so we are all ready, we will pick mum up on the way.
We are having problems with FIL he is ringing OH constantly yesterday we had 6 phone calls before 10.30 and if we don’t pick up he rings again and again till we do, he doesn’t think oh they must be busy I will wait for them to call back, today we have had three calls already, it’s driving us all a bit mad and as usual OH’s sister does sweet F A ! It’s making me so cross for my OH as he is shouldering all of the stress. Moan over 😬
Decorations are still up so will do that tomorrow.
Snoozer lovely baby news xx
Have good days all and take care xx

@Ruby - So sorry to hear of your FiL's constant phone calls. You have my sympathies as I know how that feels; my late DF had Lewy Body dementia that comes with sundowning so he would often ring late in the day or, worse still, at 3 or 4 am. I can laugh about it now but, not having any siblings, it wasn't easy at the time and I wish your SiL would help out more. I hope your postponed Christmas with your sister cheers you up a bit. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13

Take care allCarolbee12 -
Good afternoon
Sunny but chilly out. No snow but apparently Derby which is about 20 minutes away had some.
Spending today catching up on washing, haven't done any for a few days and it's starting to mount up. Didn't have the salmon last night, had chicken kievs instead, so that's on the menu tonight.
Have a good day all, hugs to the sad, lonely and poorly. Take care.11 -
Good afternoon
No snow but very cold.
Washing on the line, no idea if it will dry but fingers crossed.
Going for a short walk in a minute to get a bit of fresh air.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -
RUBY you have my sympathy too. Like YL's dad my DM had Lewy Body dementia too, a regular
accompaniment to the Parkinsons she suffered from. Time meant nothing to her and I was regularly rung up at all hours through the night . If I said she had woken me up I just got snarled at and told to go back to sleep then, as though I was being lazy by being in bed! She never used my mobile, that was beyond her, and I would regularly get in to a dozen or so messages on the land line answerphone. I pray I never put my kids through anything like that..
I was a Gormless Gertie this morning and now have a poorly hand. I had gone down into the garage for the big bag of recycling to take out while I was putting out my general waste bin. I tripped on the bottom step coming back up to the kitchen and threw my hand out to stop myself going full length but knew about it! Luckily nothing damaged other than a very sore hand.
Still no snow here but by heck it's blooming cold. Currently the sky is wall to wall blue sky, the sun is shining and we have reached the dizzy heights of 1 deg. Going nowhere and keeping warm indoors. I finally got on with the monthly banking this morning, somewhat delayed, and now looking at a big pile of shredding to keep me occupied this afternoon.
Take care all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10
