Morning, and a Happy New Year to everyone.
I don't post very often, but I always read your comments.15 -
Another one with a sprinkling of snow - barely worth mentioning, I like snow bit glad there isn’t too much today,
DF has an early appt at the hospital, about 40 minutes away, and it’s his birthday (87) so that’s today organised - we’ll stop for a few groceries on the way back and need go via the craft/fabric shop too.
New menu night - we are continuing our monthly ‘cook a meal from a different country/area’ - tonight is Fesenjan, a Persian chicken dish with pomegranate and nuts. If I’m feeling like it there’s a flat bread that accompanies it too.Have a good day all

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another minus start for us and not forecast to get much warmer. I don't cope well with cold weather these days. Such fun getting old!
The decs came down yesterday and a much needed dust and vac sorted the downstairs out. The boxes and bags were piled at the bottom of the stairs and taken up gradually as and when I went up stairs. Now all piled in the back bedroom waiting to be put away. That's the first job this morning before a dust and vac all round upstairs. I'm ashamed to say I don't think it's been done since before Christmas!
The waste bin collection is postponed until tomorrow due to NYD so must remember to put that out later. Of course promised snow might put paid to the collection. The snow forecast changes day by day so that may or may not happen! Apparently the gritters were out yesterday but they seemed to forget us up here as they usually do.
Not much in the way of cooking to do today, just a warm up of yesterday's lo. I'll have some of the gammon with fried up potatoes, fried tomatoes and an egg I think. I must get back to soup making again soon now stocks of the fattening festive stuff is going down. Have a good day folks with the usual ((HUGS)) where needed for the poorlies, getting better, sad or just fed up. Take care all stay safe in this wintery weather. xx

No frost this morning, it's a mighty +1° with the promise of +3° later. Yesterday I had the wood burner going from early on. It doesn't heat the rest of the house, just the living room but it's enough. My 'first foot' only offered jelly beans, not sure he deserved the dram 🥃😀 I really enjoyed my venison with red cabbage, more for today too. There's still financial stuff to plod through, today is a bank holiday here so somethings on hold until Monday. I can make a good start at least. The only decoration I have to put away is the advent wreath, I hadn't put the cards up, there's still a wee pile on the coffee table, so they're easy to deal with.Happy baby news @Snoozer. Great to see you posting @Iris. Getting through your 'first' Christmas was always going to be tough @y@YorksLass and @Derek, hugs to you both. And more hugs to all our poorlies and sads.15

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Cold but not much frost this morning, I have a coat in the WM that needs to drip dry for a while so that can go out - we're promised sunshine which will help. Also another load to do after. The oven has had a good scrub, surprising how mucky it gets even though I don't use it very often.
Lovely meal at friends yesterday, the pavlova was a hit but not as much as the yorkshire pudding - one massive one done in a roasting tin, so big and crispy!
I'm with you and the soup TA, two of the children bought me a posh new soupmaker only problem is I can't eat it quickly enough!
Great baby news Snoozer!
Happy Birthday to your DF Allie.
Hugs to you both Mehefin and YL.
Not sure what today holds, probably a walk to the glass bank and some more decluttering. As Gers said it's a bank holiday here so not everything is open.
Take care. XX

Morning everyone thanks for the start Gers it’s a cold and frosty one I will have to be well wrapped up to unload the van at the food waste I’m not looking forward to that but at least this afternoon it will be nice and warm in the charity shop . Back to normal here I’ve checked any debits have come out I need to pop out for some veg tomorrow but otherwise my purse is staying firmly shut this year . Camelot I usually make a big pan of soup and freeze it in tubs and I take one out the night before for lunch that might help I don’t know how many your soup maker does but could you eat a bowl and freeze some . Great baby news snoozer . Hugs to Mehefin YL and SO it can be a sad time of the year for some. Shepherds pie tonight when I get in I made six yesterday kept one out and froze the rest my poor freezers are stuffed to the gills again must dash . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing13

Good morning everyone and thanks for the start Gers
It's cold here but no snow up to now. I've done a bedding wash and that's on the airer for now.
Hope to venture into town later as I'm expecting a parcel and also have a return to process so fingers crossed the snow holds off.
Need to check my meal plans for the weekend in case any additional food shopping is required.
Will take the tree down later and put the decorations away and after that it's feet up and relax
Thinking of the sad, lonely and poorlies
Take care x12 -
Morning everyone
Cold and frosty here. When I came back from mam and dads yesterday I took the Christmas tree down and had a good sort through the Christmas bits I didn't use and put them in a bag for a charity shop. Also sorted the big cupboard where the decorations live, threw some stuff out and managed to reach some games right at the back that little one is old enough to play now....I was balanced on a ladder.
This morning I need to clean downstairs before I put the 'normal' things back out, candles etc. I'm going to take mam for some shopping later, while there's a carer with dad. She was a lot calmer yesterday, which was nice. There will be a meeting next week hopefully, with dads' care manager so that mam gets some help too...which she's still saying she doesn't need.
Had a long phone chat with little one...mainly discussing her birthday tomorrow...she'll be 7.
My friend who lives opposite must have got home late last night, so I'll maybes see her later this afternoon. Tea tonight will be some turkey out of the freezer with chips, because I realised I haven't had it yet!
Hope you all have a good day today x13
