A little help for unusually mounting a security light?

Need to mount a light to help with a dark spot.
The light unit is this one. So obviously it wants to be mounted flush against a wall. I can do that but it's not going to really illuminate where I want. To do what I want the right hand mounting hole as you look at the light will need to come away from the wall on an angle. 

So it could do with being mounted on some angled bracket or something. I'm just not the most DIY minded so if I can even think of something then I'm sure there'll be a better option.

A relative of mine has scrap metal laying around which he was talking about cutting a piece down & mounting this to the wall & then the light to it & bending it round.
It might work ... but it'll look crap because it's just a piece of scrap metal that'll be flapping about in the wind.

So on to my expertly crafted diagram...



Between the 2 red lines is a walkway & it's this that needs to be illuminated. There's absolutely nowhere to the left of this to mount the light so that's a total non-option.

The light is going where the green X is.
The solar panel is being trailed off & mounted where the blue X is.
The black right angled section opposite all of this which is where I should've stuck another X for easy highlighting is a shed which blocks off the sunlight at this time of year - other than where the blue X is, which is a bit taller than the shed, so that's why the solar panel has to go there.


So basically I need the light at the green X to illuminate the red channel as best as possible. 

Mounting it flush will throw SOME light there, as I tested out yesterday, but obviously not as good as it would ideally be since most the light is thrown at the shed directly in front of it.

Which is why it needs turning outwards slightly towards that red channel but then obviously you're bringing the mount away from the wall then & it wont mount.


So over to you guys who know more about this than me.

Presumably the light has a bracket similar to the solar panel? If so then mount the bracket on its side at a slight angle downward and that gives you a lateral adjustment to point it at the red area.

I installed a small floodlight in a similar situation, it was mains powered with a PIR. In order to achieve an angled mount I cut some timber at 45 degrees. The long fixing screws go through the light mounting bracket and the wood into the wall. Simples.

I'll have to have another look at it all but at the moment I'm not following. I can't see how the light can be installed on its side.

Although it will have to be angled downwards to avoid blinding people.

I was wondering about wood but wasn't really sure how to get something to work (like I said, not the most DIY minded).
Wasn't sure what kind of pieces (as in dimensions) I'd be needing, what angles to be cutting etc.

The wall this will be getting mounted on isn't flat either. It's an old stone cottage so a bit bumpy.

I installed some of them small solar wall lights at my own home but everything is dashed & so nothing sits like you want it to. 

In the end I cut some 6x1 tanalised timber to the exact size of the wall light itself, screwed the wood to the dashed wall & then the light unit to that so that it had something flat to sit against.

But that was basic (& possibly not needed, but I wanted a flush fit). For this I'm wondering how to actually put that together. I struggle to visualise if I'm honest because the picture I have in my head I think must surely be wrong.

Every pic in that advert shows it mounted at an angle, often around 45 degrees - I suspect it's as Unforeseen says. 
I think the pic 6 of the light fitting, which appears to show a round mounting hole at the side, is misleading. It's actually the tip of the mounting bracket.
There's a Q&A section where you can ask for confirmation, but pretty sure it's good to go.

Having got this mount for that camera I don't think it'd work. I think the mounting point is too wide on the light unit.

Plus I don't think my mother will want it sticking out from the wall like a flag. 

It can go on the wall, just tilted outwards.

I am pretty confident of this, and would buy it on the basis that if it didn't have an adjustable mounting bracket, it would be returned as 'not as described'.

I think I see what you're saying now. I wasn't home when I made my last post but I am now & have it in hand.

The light unit is basically a rectangle. I think you're talking about instead of mounting it so the long sides are top & bottom with the tilt then being up & down, you're talking about mounting it sideways so the long parts will be left & right & the light unit will tilt sort of towards the red lines / to the black lined wall between the green X & blue X?

I'll have to go back & do a dummy test fit to see what that looks like. It might work but it might not because where it could light up the walkway better, it can't then be tilted downwards so could end up being quite bright in your face kind of thing. 
Whereas mounting it in the direction I'd intended, you can tilt the light unit up/down so that the light can point directly at the ground (and away from your face).

But that's the only tilting you get with this unit - the actual wall mount is fixed & not movable at all. The light unit only tilts up/down, not left/right or on a ball like how a windscreen phone mount might be.

Ah. I did assume all you wanted was an up-down tilt.
Do you actually have the light, then? If so, and you post pics of the bracket, we can hopefully come up with simplish solutions.

Yeah I've already bought the light.



So from what I can see, that piece in my hand looks like it might be optional. The light unit fits inside that groove. 




I say optional because the light unit itself also has screw holes which can't be used if it's in the longer mount in picture 1. 

Red button is on-off.

And as you can see, the light only tilts up or down.
