Happy New Year All, hope everyone had a good evening.
Ours was fun but very late, my DD , her Ddad and friends came over and we played some games. It was very cold when our friends left and all the cars in the drive were iced over but have defrosted well today.
We are going to friends for dinner this evening but suspect it will be a much earlier night for all.
Gers glad the bank have sorted out the issue.
Hoping that all the sad and poorly have a better day. Hugs to all who want/need them.

Morning/afternoon/sometime...we seem to be in an area now where fireworks are de rigeur, so it did sound a bit like a warzone, fatty rallied ater a while and was ok, he even came downstairs for a bit, so not too bad. I think he's just being desensitised now...we did nothing, we were going to watch the last stranger things but it was 2 hours, so we decided today might be better. OH is still snoring away so I'll have breakfast in a minute, just toast and cottage cheese...we hardly made a dent in the cheese mountain so there'll be a lot fo cheese inspired dishes in our future
redcross, I wouldn't worry about posting interesting stuff, no ones day can be exciting all the time, your life is your life and that's good enough
My decs are staying up until the sixth because all that effort to whip them away again is too much work for me, plus I like the twinklies, they're cheery...Weather is cold but dry so not too bad, I'd like to think I'd venture into the garden but I doubt it'll happen, sofa surfing is the order of the day
Health and wealth and anything you else you fancy for the coming year, hope it's a happier/happy one for you all....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi14 -
Afternoon everyone and a happy new year to you all xx
We had BFF and her DH here and had a sensible dinner before heading to the pub with DS2. They had a disco, grazing table and welcome glass of fizz. We like to support the pub as so many are closing in villages like ours. Shame the rest of the village didn't turn out, however it was a good (albeit late) night for us. Friends left around 12noon and we have invited Mum for a late lunch of roast lamb at 3pm, so we have tidied up and sorted the veggies out. Our decorations will come down over the weekend I expect.
Still many goodies to get through and a fair bit of cheese. Good luck with the 3 bottles of Baileys @TravellingAbuela - that's a lot!!
Annoying about the banking issues @Gers but kudos to RBS for their swift action x
Glad Crystal's scan was all good @snoozer, very exciting news x
Welcome to the new posters - lovely to see you all and please stick around. My posts are usually boring but it's good to check in with each other and support/commiserate where needed.
We have some health issues in the family which we are girding our loins for - will find out more on Monday.
Wishing everyone posting or lurking a happy and healthy 2026. Let's make the most of every day and not sweat the small stuff.
Coxy xx

Happy New Year everyone,
We had a quiet one as well, at least until 9.45 when someone nearby let off some very heavy duty fireworks that sounded like mortar shells. At midnight there were a few which must have been let off nearby as they were exploding right above the bedroom (it has a velux window).
Today we went to B and Q to pick up a new seat and mechanism for the toilet in the ensuite. The lid's off at the moment so that we can pull a hook inside to flush, but at least it's usable. Then we went to IKEA to get a replacement rug for the front room, we no longer buy expensive rugs for it because they get trashed.
Unlike Gers we are having meat pie for dinner having been introduced to the tradition by Glaswegian Brian. It's a Wagyu beef one that I picked up as YS bargain in M and S and put in the freezer.
Have a good evening.14
