Morning allWishing all of you lovely people a Happy New Year.Went to sleep around 10ish and woke for a loo break when the fireworks went off at midnight. Lovely display out of the window but didn't watch for too long as I probably wouldn't have got back to sleep!Taking all the decs down today and have a dust and hoover round.Hope everyone has a good beginning of the new year xx16

2026 came in driven along by howling winds which roared all night. I managed to stay awake in bed to see the Bells in, first time in years. So, no wee glass toasting the new year, perhaps later. On Sunday I wrote about an attempt to get money out of my accounts which resulted in two cancelled debit cards, yesterday I discovered that it had happened to my credit card with the same bank. ☹️ Three payments of nearly £80.00 each were taken whilst two others were declined. After 40 minutes on the phone to the bank, going through three different agents and answering umpteen questions the fraud team cancelled the card and have refunded the monies. 🎉 All three cards will take 10-14 days to arrive, it's a pain but necessary. Great work by the RBS team.Today is dependent on the weather. I have a venison fillet to roast, will have it with the red cabbage I made yesterday and fried potatoes. It's my family's traditional NY day meal which I'll follow even though there's only me left from that foursome.I hope that everyone had a good time and now looking forward to what 2026 will bring. This evening I'll have a wee dram, raising the glass to toast absent friends and family. Happy 2026, it'll be great to share it all.16

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Happy New Year all. I actually slept a lot longer this morning. 7 am!! Wow! That could be due to the disturbed night I had. I went to bed at 10 pm and, .then come midnight I could hear distant fireworks but not near enough to keep me awake. Just nodding back off when a text from youngest DGD roused me up again! Wishing me HNY and telling me she loved me so much. Aw bless. I must have finally got back to sleep about 1 am.
Today's plan is to take all the decs down and then a good dust 'n vac all round downstairs. I left an M & S honey glazed gammon joint out defrosting for lunch and will have some of that with cauli cheese and maybe some baby roasties.
Have a good day folks if you can but it it sounds like a few of you are having a dec down day! A clean sweep for the New Year! Take care all, with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, getting better, sad or lonely. xx

I’ve got a large lump of pork out of the freezer which I hope has defrosted overnight ,if so will slow cook it as no idea what time they’ll turn up !
loads of 5p veg and will make crumbles for pudding
need to check if I have custard or pop to shops .

Good morning, thanks Gers.
Happy New Year all.
We saw the new year in with our lovely neighbour, and stayed up far too late
chatting. I'd made a few sandwiches and we had those with probably a glass of wine too many! However it's only once a year.
We too will take some decs down if we can be bothered.
Hope everyone has a good day today, whatever you're doing.
Take care folks.20 -
Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy 2026A very quiet evening, got to 1115pm and I couldn’t stay awake, was expecting to be woken by fireworks (can usually watch some a big house on the hill from my bed!) but no.Today looks damp 😞
might do some sewing later on, and maybe have a nap!

Happy New Year to everyone
Didn't intentionally stay up to see the New Year in but I couldn't sleep, and lots of fireworks going off.
Take care

Mornong All
Happy New Year everyone, thanks for being there over the past year - it's certainly had it's ups and downs for many.
Thanks for the start Gers, even though you're not too far away from me the weather was very different - cold here with a little rain but no wind to speak of. Glad you have your banking sorted out.
I didn't stay up last night and was woken briefly by some fireworks but there can't have been many as I went back to sleep quickly. I was up at the usual time this morning and have made 2 batches of twinks hobnobs (one vegan) to take to DS1's on Saturday. There are now meringues in the oven - my offering for a new year lunch with friends. They have also asked if I can make a giant yorkshire pudding but need whole milk so will pop out for that later.
Take care. XX17
