Lake cruise at this time of year?

Mr. M and I are joining 19 other members of my family in a hotel in Grasmere this weekend. Most of the others are fit, healthy, and keen walkers, eager to tackle a fell or two. We are not! We’re hoping the cruises on Windermere are still running at this time of year - big coats, hats, scarves and gloves all packed! I have chronic heart failure and osteoarthritis so I am very limited in how far I can walk. I do have a buggy, but it’s not always appropriate. Any top tips?

PS I know the coast of Cumbria very well- family in St. Bees, Whitehaven and Maryport.

I found this which may help

”Lake cruises in Cumbria, particularly on major lakes like Windermere and Ullswater, generally run year-round
offering scenic winter experiences, though timetables are reduced in winter and services usually pause briefly for Christmas Day. Major operators like Windermere Lake CruisesUllswater Steamers, and Keswick Launch Co. provide regular services, though it's best to check their specific winter timetables online for departures from locations like Bowness, Ambleside, Glenridding, and Keswick. “

It may be worth asking if you need to prebook or can just turn up.  The weather in the Lake District is often wet so it would be better if you could just turn up, if the sky is blue

Ive just checked the weather in Windermere.  From Friday - Monday the sun is forecast to shine all day.

they are indeed running at this time of the year - I haven't been on them for years but we used to just turn up (particularly in the winter) https://www.windermere-lakecruises.co.uk/timetables

The Ullswater Steamers are also running (though not servicing Pooley Bridge so pick up the boat from Glenridding if you're up for it). It's dry and sunny here but very cold so wrap up warm!

Enjoy your stay! I was out on the fells this morning and the visibility currently is stunning. Hope the walkers in your party are able to make the most of the wonderful winter weather.  :)
