I called the water company last Thursday and told them what I had done so far.

They are sending someone out on the 7th between 8am and 1pm.

I assume the employee will just determine if it is their responsibility or mine and then leave me to get it fixed.

    I do not have insurance.

I have been looking at leak detection companies who seem to have various tools for detecting a leak.
I have not found one in my area but have found some that travel all over the UK like The Leak Detection Company.
Most only detect the leak and then I would need to find a Plumber to fix the leak.

ADI leak detection is another possibility. They seem to come up on a Google search whatever town you input.

Yorkshire Water sent two "engineer" out to me.   Turns out they were more like admin staff who just actually checked what I told them was right (turning off the stopcock and the meter was still running).  I was pretty annoyed as it was a real waste of time.

They then passed it to subcontracted real engineers who said they couldn't come out for a couple of months.  Soon after they phoned and asked me if I was in as they were nearby and came and fixed it.    I really hope they do the same to you and find it is a simple fix.     They also had the equipment to trace the leak and said they would use that if required - but that they weren't touching it if it went past my front door.  However, as soon as he opened the flap for the meter he immediately knew exactly what it was and took about 2 hours to fix it.   They made a really good job as well - you would never know anything had been done.
