New Car warranty - Gearbox claim after 7 months

That’s a worrying situation, especially on such a new car. The gearbox replacement should still be covered by the manufacturer’s 3-year warranty, not just a 1-year parts warranty, as it’s a warranty repair on a nearly new vehicle. I’d definitely ask the dealer to confirm that in writing.
Metal filings are usually contained within the gearbox, so other parts shouldn’t be affected. As for options, after 6 months, it’s harder to reject the car. Hopefully, the new gearbox sorts it for good.

So just an update, just spoken to my daughter the dealer is waiting for Nissan to approve the new Gearbox under the warranty. The time its taking to repair is frustrating but at least my daughter has a courtesy car.
I am heading in to the same dealership next week as my own Nissan has a safety recall which is being carried out so will be asking about the 3 year warranty and will make sure its done right and my daughter has the balance of the warranty.
In the last 2 years we (the family) have purchased 4 cars from this dealership, so I would expect them to be making sure everything is done correctly and since my initial complaint they have been updating my daughter

It needs regular fluid and filter changes to stand any chance of doing much more than 60,000 miles.
It is on these - terrible gearbox known for it's awful reliability.0 -
Just an update
Thanks for everyone's input
Gearbox issue sorted and is covered under the warranty for the remainder of the 3 year warranty
RAC have apologised for dropping her car off outside the dealership on a public road with the key on the tyre before the dealership opened (risk of theft etc)1 -
Thanks for the update - so often we never get to find out what happened.0
