@Mrs_Salad_Dodger DD is very taken with her medal and asked if I could say thank you. Yes DS2 is 7 and Dinosaurs are critically important to him at the moment! It depends which day I get DS1 on, he is AuDHD, we only get organised things done on the days where he Autistic need for order outweighs his ADHD need for chaos!
@TC77 , it does feel a bit ridiculous at the moment, if I’m honest. It is the worst time of the year for me health wise and it’s just unfortunate that that we have to empty the storage container now and not in June!
@suzeesu2000 , sorry to hear about your Mum, it is such a horrible illness.
We had our container day today and I’m sure I won’t be able to walk properly tomorrow, all of me hurts. I did so many steps, so fully expecting an M.E crash by the end of the week. But we got so much done, we paid for some help, so managed to get all of the loft stuff and shed stuff back home and in their respective locations. The cat spent the afternoon stalking the lovely guys that came to help and had to be shut in, in the end, to keep her out of the loft and their van!
We did some more book sorting in the kids room this evening and DS1 excelled by getting through three of his four boxes. I now have piles to sort out depending on where it is going to end up. I’ve decided there is just too much to take the time to scan it all for world of books or music magpie, so it will be donated instead. Split between the library, the local hospital and the local freebies site.
Fabulously though, I found my sewing machine and cross stitch stuff in the container, so I have brought that home and hope to get it all sorted out, so that I can start doing some hobby stuff again. I’ve missed not being able to do it.
Love to everyone xxx

I'm another who would like to hear the decluttering interview you heard. Any chance it was R4 Women's Hour? They often have interesting things (though I do wonder why we still need a specific hour about women's stuff and why it's not just part of the general broadcasting...)
The bit you mentioned about work clothes rang a bell. Granted I was always very casually dressed at work so much has carried over particularly as I did 3 years part time before properly retiring. But it reminded me that I have my "interview" suit - casual looking black linen trousers with a button free jacket with 3/4 sleeves. Didn't need it for my last interview so it's got to be 4 years at least since I wore it. I'd only need it again if I lost weight and needed to go to a funeral I think and I don't think I'd wear black in any case.@brie not sure if this link will work, it was BBC Sussex on the 19th January the Sarah Gorrell show about 11.40am or if this works 1hour 41 minutes into the show. Only about 7 or 8 minutes long.

I've spent most of day dealing with stuff for an elderly friend currently in hospital but they think will need to go into a care home, I'm her attorney and named as next of kin. LPAs dropped off at hospital, visited bank twice with the finance LPA, phoned to let DWP know she's in hospital to hold attendance allowance, etc etc and lastly messaged the Cinnamon Trust to see if they can foster her 14 year old cat until we know for sure if she will be coming home which wouldn't be in the near future. Her neighbour is currently dealing with the cat but that's a short term solution.I had a few minutes in town and brought 5 not needed books in a couple of CSs 🙄 authors I read but I really don't need any more to add to the overloaded shelves, obviously book shopping helps me de-stress!! The interviewee talks about reason we bring in the stuff to make clutter.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin20 -
@StickyTheStickInsect I hadn't heard of AuDHD until dd2 mentioned it as she thinks may apply to her. She has audio processing disorder and dyslexia only.picked up at 17and 15 but uses lip reading alot she realised. We have such battles when i ask her to do something and clash but reading about how complex it is has helped me. She doesn't like change and can be upset that I move things in her room.
Ventured in and easier to tidy hers than mine although hers is sort of piles ao not totally chaotic . 5 odd socks for recyling and underwear and some paper and large packaging from my mattress. Why did I keep it for a few weeks. 126.19 -
The 2nd ex-husband had (has) APD - it can be quite a challenge to live with, especially when watching TV or in a noisy environment. His was diagnosed at 50-ish, about 10/11 years ago, so your DD did well to get a diagnosis at 17.TC77 said:@StickyTheStickInsect I hadn't heard of AuDHD until dd2 mentioned it as she thinks may apply to her. @TC77 I hadn’t heard of Audio Processing Disorder until you mentioned it, thank you so much for the comment as I think this is likely my DS2. He has an ADHD diagnosis and we are waiting for the outcome of an ASN assessment. You gave me a light bulb moment and I’m very grateful.

Hi all, quick post as I am out early ish again tomorrow but nicer than today as I am meeting friend E and another friend D for morning coffee, which will probably last through lunch knowing E and I 😂. Dentist was painless, filling temporarily sorted and we have agreed that we will try for a crown, appointment next week for first tempory crown and the week after for the proper crown. Luckily that takes us into Feb and the bank balance will have been topped up 😂.
Went to OH's house and decluttered the blown rubbish from the front garden, picked up the post and gave the house and back garden a check over. All seems ok but the back garden is a big jungle again 😑.
Home for lunch and had a quick chat with ln who has a builder in installing a toilet under her stairs. It's not my builder but the guy who did a refurb on the house over the road. After lunch I pottered about tidying the lr, some carp binned and lr bin emptied, another 2 loads through the washing machine, jeans taken off the radiators, folded and put upstairs for OH to put away. Didn't have much get up and go so sorted some emails, 200 deleted but I couldn't concentrate at all. I
I have caught up on the posts but brain still sluggish so sorry if I missed something.
@Mrs SD another lovely hat 😁 and well done on catching up with the cheerleading 💐
@QueenJess I absolutely love the way you use every piece of paper. I am a bit like you and even though I have note books etc there are still notes from phone calls etc on the backs of envelopes and odd bits of paper. I also use them as labels when posting parcels 😂.
@Brambling thank you for the link, interesting short chat 😁 and useful information.
Falling asleep so I will just say hugs to anybody who would like one

- Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
- Plan & execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
- Target 2026 items out
Tuesday continued: As tomorrow is bin day & I have plenty of space in the wheelie bin, I have finally gotten around to putting the new pillows & new bedding (which I purchased 27/12/25) on our bed 😅 Decluttered the ancient pillows straight into the general waste wheelie bin together with the plastic packaging & recycled the cardboard packaging (119 - 124) Now need to go through our bedding to ascertain if anything can be donated/ragged/replaced. Dinner was chicken pieces fried in a little oil with boiled new potatoes & a tin of sweetcorn 😋 Wudupa.
Started raining at 21:00 as forecast & the wind has picked up
125 - 127 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, glass jar - recycled
128 - 131 Kitchen, DSis bedroom, office & lr detritus - binned
dND, I was pleased to hear This “……I for one have so many hobbies and interests that I rotate, it would be a pipedream - but I would like to be able to move around, have space to work and be able to find whatever I need. The put away/out is an essential starting point for me and very slowly it is working. 😁” as you sound much more positive about your decluttering 🥹 Hopefully someone in the knit & natter group will be able to help you decipher the pattern 🤞+ it would be nice to get out of the house for something other than shopping 😊 Well done on deciding to declutter the charger plates 👏 & good luck returning the lamp 🍀 Nothing tenuous about returning original packaging 😊 means you aren’t storing it for Justin 🥳 As to decluttering the original broken lamp, I know you can do it 😊
Green_hopeful, This “we decluttered our kitchen a few years ago. We sort of used a kondo light method. For example we got all the baking tins out. We had tonnes. We decided we only needed a couple of each size. We are not even great bakers. So two 8 inch, two nine inch and a deep 7 inch. We kept a couple of cupcake tins and some baking sheets. When we looked at the rest it wasn’t even worth donating. We recycled a whole wheelie bin full. We had been taking it all from house to house over 20 years. We did the same with everything else. If we were sure it could go, we freecycled or donated straight away. If we were not sure, we put the item in a box in the garage and then freecycled the lot after a year. My favourite was all the random novelty mugs which i took to work. It was hilarious watching engineers using floral or wallace and gromit mugs.” is a great idea 🤩👏 Thanks for sharing especially as this idea can be used for other rooms 😊 I especially love the “Kondo light” method. Good luck ‘redistributing’ your stepson’s stuff & your bedding 🍀
Excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏 What a pity about the SA jacket not being new 😔 I hadn’t really appreciated that you have to buy your own uniform 🤨 I was rather pleased to hear that you have treated yourself to a new shopping trolley ☺️
Lovely post Yorkie1 ☺️ I think your Dad’s idea was absolutely brilliant 🤩 Well done on filling your recycling boxes 👏
Brie, your “interview suit” sounds lovely 😊
GrannyKate, great decluttering 👏 & quite a profitable day especially the forgotten loan ☺️
ladybird1106, another one of our Declutterati family who had a reasonable day - decluttering & profit 👏
suzeesu2000, so sorry to hear that you are having such a bad week with both your health & your Mum’s health 🥺 I remember you saying that you had been heavily involved in setting up the Home Care Programme 🥹 A brilliant scheme hacked to pieces over the years by underfunding & the same lack of political will which has destroyed our NHS 😢 Great work finding the energy to declutter the landing & oust all the cardboard boxes 👏 It is one of the great mysteries that we save one cardboard box & it somehow morphs into a minimum of 5 🤔 Gentle cwtches for both your& your Mum 🤗
Good idea weenancy 😊
jivjules1, hopefully you will be able to get some support for both you & your son 🙏
Florenceem when I read This “Builder came back to fix the leak - he left telling me not to use the sink for 24 hours to let whatever he had used set. I went in there - it is leaking! He will be back again. I have asked him to make a gate for the side alley - I have heard he is very good at carpentry - must be better than he is at plumbing!” I was rather surprised at how philosophical you are 🥹 Perhaps you can find someone who has had some carpentry work done 🤞& have a look at his work 😉
Willowtree222, surely what he is doing classes as stalking & he can be reported 🤨 I need to find a word other than ‘cad’ 🤔
Well done on the sales jivjules1 👏 Shame about the lost key 😞 although I suppose looking for it made the extra steps easier 😉
Great decluttering oceandreamer 👏
StickyTheStickInsect, so pleased to hear that your DD likes her medal 😊 Sounds like DS1’s need for “need for order” outweighed “his ADHD need for chaos!” today 😊 Excellent work by DS1 & worthy of a medal🏅 An excellent day’s work sorting out the storage container & a great idea to hire a couple of people to help out 👏 I am awarding you & DH a Gold Star ⭐️ ⭐️ each for getting so much done 👏 Especially pleased to hear that you located your sewing machine & cross stitch stuff 😊
Brambling, such a wonderful thing to do 🥹 Hopefully if your elderly friend does have to go into a care home it will only be for a short time 🙏
TC77, with her specific issues I have to say that I think your DD2 is amazing 🥲 especially spending a year in Australia 🤩
Liverpool_Anne, thank you for my 💐 Very pleased to hear that the dental visit was painless ☺️ but even more pleased to hear that the dentist has finally agreed to try for a crown 🥳 Excellent & eclectic decluttering 👏 As I read This “Didn't have much get up and go so sorted some emails, 200 deleted but I couldn't concentrate at all.” I couldn’t help thinking that if you can clear 200 emails whilst not being able to concentrate, just think how many you would clear when you can concentrate 😉 Hope you have a lovely time with your friends tomorrow ☺️
We have an urgent task tomorrow - the downstairs loo and sink are both blocked ☹️
Anyway aside from that I will wish you all a good night & see you later 👋

Morning all. I had J here the right day - raining hard here this morning and forecast says set in for the day.
I had a text to say my boots are at the shop so I may venture out to collect them and get some cash.
Builder is a Church member so I feel safe having him in the house now I am on my own. Just went in the cloakroom - small water mark on the kitchen roll placed under the sink.
I found Mr F's birth certificate in the red metal case that contained the paper dated 1978. His first wife's birth certificate, their wedding certificate and divorce paperwork are there too.

2 magazines given away at craft club, used up a perfume. All I managed yesterday.
Finally finished knitting a scarf for donating. It seemed to take forever.Much longer than the 2 adult chunky hats I made last night. I have now started a child's jumper. I have some very random colours left in my stash now.
DD1 on her way to the Shetland Isles. 60 mph winds and sleet. That should make an interesting journey on the little plane. They don't often cancel the ferry and flights. They work with harsh weather up there. The winds should make Up helly aa interesting this year.
Dentist check up today in Nottingham.
DS and family are coming to stay for the week end. I would like to get some more jobs done before they get here.
Big hugs for anyone in need. Vxxx:23
