@PipneyJane - these are Calzedonia sheer socks (ankle ones). They're not claimed to be indestructible but I was assured they shouldn't ladder so will report back.

Good morning All
Having spent the weekend attending the Sweeps Festival in Rochester, I am happy to report that while the lovely yarn shop (Store 104) in the high street has increased their floorspace, nothing took my fancy despite a browse. Plenty of decent wools, but I’m not buying if I don’t feel inspired. I did discover a sock yarn that is 25% alpaca - by Rico, I think - but the colours didn’t appeal. No coupons spent.

Sorry I've been away for a few days and just caught up...
@PipneyJane I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. How awful.
@Laura_Elsewhere Your garden is coming along nicely.
We've had our bath taken out and a walk in shower put in because hubby was concerned that he might not be able to get in and out of the bath in the future. We've talked about it for a while and decided to just do it. I'm happy with how it looks, just waiting for the flooring chap to come to measure up.
Garden is running away from me. I can't keep up with the weeds. 😤🥵 but I've planted a few seeds. I'm hoping some yellow rattle will help with the excess grass in the border.

@MrsCD that's exactly what we're hoping to get done for my parents this summer- they have both had falls in the last year or two whilst clambering in or out of the bath to have a shower, so we hope to have the bath taken out and an extra-sized walk-in shower with a built-in bench will be far safer… we'd really like them to move but I suspect after 47 years they are a bit settled!
at least they agreed to a new cooker (one that works…) and Mum is accepting lighterweight pans to replace the old cast-iron ones which not only weigh a ton but are also in very poor condition and impossible to keep properly clean… we've found somewhere down here that will take them for recycling :)2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Yes, we're just having our bathroom redone so that we have a walk-in shower as opposed to a shower over the bath. They've had to alter a doorway - there's dust everywhere…. Even though the builder did wield the hoover afterwards before he left for the day!

We had our bath replaced with a walk in shower a few years ago and with my recent hip replacement it's been a godsend, looks pretty swanky too! The husband had had ankle surgery and we realized what a pita climbing in and out of the bath was so decided to have it done when we wanted to, not when we needed to. We had room in the bathroom for a small shower cubicle but , as we hardly ever used the bath, it seemed a bit mad to squeeze ourselves into a little shower on a daily basis while an unused bath was taking up space. One of the best things we ever did.

Good luck with your parents, @Laura_Elsewhere. Hopefully changing the bathroom will make all the difference. One of my friends recently moved her 92 year old mum from a large house, to a much smaller one. Six months of clearing and packing. Although relieved it is finally over-and-done-with, her mum is still mourning the old house and was surprised by how much. (She’d lived there for 60-odd years.)
One thing that always surprised me when I came to the UK was the lack of built-in showers. Everywhere had a bathtub - often squeezed into too small a space - whereas in Oz the standard is for a walk-in shower +\- a bath if there is sufficient space. (I remember buying an adapter for the bath taps so I could “have a quick shower” instead of filling the tub.)

😂 I think we'll all do that!!
We decided to just do it before we needed to, and had some available cash! We don't want our daughters to have to 'tell' us when things get too much...!
Yes, @Laura_Elsewhere, parents are tricky and set in their ways! I keep getting told.....
Well, onwards and upwards. Bathroom walls don't paint themselves unfortunately!
