I'm glad we can exchange our tights allowance for thermal tights - next week Lidl are doing Ladies' thermal tights for £1.79. I really did not want to spend coupons so early in the New YearIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8

@thriftmonsterIt's been a peculiar end to the year, but none of us is ill or worse, so it's all manageable once I adjust to things...I have lost count completely for 2025, so I want to keep a proper count in 2026.And I want to MAKE CLOTHES!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Do you 'run' your DH's socks before he wears them, Pip? It sounds to me like it would be worth doing!PipneyJane said:Also, DH has requested more pairs of hand knit socks, since he has killed yet another pair, so my handbag knitting will be focused on making pairs for him. It may also include several pairs of fingerless mitts for friends and colleagues who have cold hands, plus several more one-skein shawls.
- PipI have just knitted myself Fair Isle fingerless mitts, in a startling four days over Xmas, making them as "wearable toile" pieces to make sure I really have the tension nailed for this wool and these needles and these FI motifs, so that I can knit the Bestway 1940s slipover, which I have bought as a kit from Ewe&Ply with their brilliant Shropshire Ply wool, and I bought extra so I can make my much larger size of it...And my practice-piece fingerless mitts, finished one in background.

And I shall definitely be doing some Dig for Victory work- my previous kitchen garden raised-bed guerilla-garden was run over on Christmas Eve when someone's handbrake failed and their car rolled downhill, took out a lamp-post and ended up literally parked on top of the right-hand one-third of my garden, but the whole structure of the raised bed has been smashed up.The only precious plant is unscathed (a small mulberry tree in a large pot right at the back) but basically we need to sort out the rubbish and put it in bins and recycling, and then re-build the raised-bed itself, re-fill and get new plants put in...!I am much happier that the car hit my garden and not a person... this time in 2018, Mr E's son was still on life support after being hit by a car weeks earlier (he's really well now!), so...Much Mending on the Borrow does have some excellent allotments, so I hope to get advice and encouragement!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

ooooh @Laura_Elsewhere! love the Fair Isle! I'm waiting on Linda Ivell's KAL to make a decision on my vintage knit kick off to 2026.
I was inspired by @Nelliegrace 's recent mention of dig for victory so I did hoik out my copy of Mr Middleton's Dig On for Victory. I sort of manage to follow his weekly plan to about the end of Feb, then it all goes to pot. However I have sown some onion seed, plonked the tray in a propagator and also stuck a bin over one of my rhubarb plants.Fashion on the Ration 2026 Coupons 0/66

That kit and your gloves @Laura_Elsewhere are lovely.
Oof to the splatting of your raised bed. Will the owner of the car help at all?
I am just waiting for delivery of "Garden to Kitchen" by the lovely Mr Middleton and the even more amazing Ambrose Heath. I did manage to start digging some lawn up over the break for Dig for Victory“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Happy New Year everyone!
We had a very quiet NYE. Spent most of yesterday at iKEA with a friend, who was shopping for furniture for her mum’s new home. (She’s downsizing into a workman’s cottage and most of her existing furniture is too large.)Laura_Elsewhere said:

Those a beautiful gloves @Laura_Elsewhere and the sweater will be lovely. Can’t wait to see you wearing it.
I don’t “run” the soles of DH’s socks before he wears them. (It hadn’t occurred to me, but I may try.) It’s the balls of his feet that destroy things. One of my tasks today is to knit on patches onto the latest holed pair. I’ll take before and after photos, so that you can see them.
I’ve started swatching for my first cardigan of 2026. It should be the Lightly Tailored Cardigan from a 1949 edition of Sydney’s Sunday Herald newspaper. Only problem is that the French navy blue that I’m using doesn’t show up the lovely chevrons in the pattern. (Best seen in this project on Ravelry.). I’m debating making something else with this yarn. Something lacy would show up well. Time to browse my queue on Ravelry…Hmmm…..
