I'm with you @ShelivesintheShire on the milk being delivered - it costs more, but it means no unnecessary shopping trips to pay the SM for storing their food!
My voucher was £12 off £80 - easier to ignore because I have no intentions of buying anything we don't need this month.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here

Lunch was pittas from the freezer with the last of the packet ham and coleslaw that needs using up. I opened a jar of passata on Friday for pizza bases as I was out of tomato puree so that needs using up tonight in a spag bol. I will add the remnants of the bottle of burger sauce that was finished on Saturday. I added water and gave it a really good shake and will use it as a flavoursome stock.
The bread maker needs to go on as we used the last of the loaf for lunch. There is a bit of brie and a chunk of Stilton too, plus some nacho sauce in a jar that I will combine in the microwave to make a cheese sauce and I will make a macaroni cheese for the freezer.6 -
I freeze left over passatta in silicon muffin cases - they each hold about 100ml which is usually enough for anything I need it for. Tonight I've got a "puck" out as the basis of a sweet and sour sauce.7

I had a supermarket delivery today which came to £89.16. The fridge is now full and very annoyingly the freezer part of it has started to develop the same fault it did about a year ago and the top half is defrosting (it's an American style fridge freezer). We paid to have it fixed last year but it's now about 12 years old and I think we might have to bite the bullet and buy a new one since it's broken again. It's meaning we're having to eat up things from the freezer pretty quickly now which is changing the planned meals a bit! DH had cod in breadcrumbs for lunch and DS will be having the same for his tea. I'm going to investigate what veggie stuff is nearest the top for my tea and we'll all be having slightly soft ice cream for pudding!
£99.98/£300 for the month so far.7 -
January Grocery Budget £155 for 2 pensioners, £1,825 for the year
The snow was melting so we drove to AldI.
There were some reduced price items, mixed dried fruit, dried chopped dates, and candied peel were all 49p, the Christmas fruit and nuts mix was £1.49, and the 500g pack of coffee beans was reduced to £3.99.
£19.69 spent.
We walked across to M&S Food.
Reduced price, we bought,
Brandy and clementine mincemeat x 2 at 32p
Merry Berry jam X 2 at 26p
Manchego Curado sheep cheese 200g £1.57
I bought beef suet and Malted Wheats. Just occasionally DH has a box for a treat. (He de-iced the car and drove me to the dentist.)
£6.93 spent,
Total spent £52.63
I worried a bit that a third of the budget was spent by day 6, but grocery shopping is for the next week, and stocking up is for several weeks or even months ahead.8 -
I’ve been putting milk in the freezer to stop me going to the shops each week. We shall see if it works.
I haven’t had a voucher yet on my Lidl’s app but usually get an update on a Thursday.
On another note I did get an email from Ocado offering me £20 saving if I spend £60 so I have done a list comprising of things I need this month or next. It’s coming on Saturday evening so will update later
