Hi,
It depends on what your pub shows and what matches / how many you want to watch.
If the pub was recently showing ART (last season), then the Premiership is no longer shown on this - it did cost £100 per annum for the subs plus circa £300 for the set up / and then installation and was broadcast on Hotbird @ 13.0E.
Some matches are shown free - yes free!
If you have a fixed dish, receiver and set up, it will probably cost circa £300, pre subscription & installation.
For motorised circa £500,pre subscription & installation.
You then have a choice of a number of subscriptions such as:
Greek Nova - circa £700 per annum - English Commentary
German Premiere - circa £700 per annum - English Commentary
Digi TV - English Commentary
Canal+ - circa £500 per annum
Digital+
Showtime - Approx 2M dish reuqired dedendent upon location.
I have only quoted the prices I think are reasonably close.
Remember, you get a lot more than just the football, (English,Scottish,German,Spanish,French,Italian,Greek etc) - ie movies etc (usually before S*y show them)
Also, some of the above require a bigger dish than your usual "S*y" / 60cm dish - 1m and above requires planning permission.
Also, if you are willing to program a CAM, cost approx £100, then you can obtain additional channels for no extra cost.
Some links that may help are as follows:
http://liveonsat.com/
http://www.satfootball.com/
http://en.kingofsat.net/
Also, pick up a copy of What Satellite magazine for some basic background information.
I have a motorised system, a Topfield 5000CIP,1M Dish, Diablo CAM & Dragon CAM.
I get Premiere,Nova,Digi TV.
I spent £600 a year ago and have approx 3,000 channels to potentially watch.
I have narrowed this down to approx 100 for sport, movies, music, news, kids etc
My local landlord has a fixed system, pointing to Hotbird, Technomate 1500+, Diablo Cam & Nova, which I helped him to source after a lot of investigation.
I can only say it seems a lot at the start, but once set up you will never pay again to watch footy.
Hope this helps.
Any questions, I will do my best to help.
Thanks

An alternative is to use a program like Sopcast or TV Ants and watch them live on your computer, for this you will need a good high speed broadband connection and a pretty decent pc but be aware that when you try t watch full screen the picture can be a bit pixally but great in smaller than full screen.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

sky (football league?) have just won a case against a pub landlord who used a german footie sat service.
Sky only won the case with regards to UK copyright.
Bear in mind, this was a pub and public broadcast rules would apply.
The landlady in question was using N*va (Greek not German) at circa £800 per annum and not paying S*y £800 per month!
For further information, I would suggest a read of the Morning Advertiser.
The issue of a free market has not been addressed. ie A UK business receiveing a European satellite service - Although it will be at a further appeal.
Also, bear in mind a S*y subscription is only legally available in the UK and Republic of Ireland (per their own T&C's) but how many bars show it in Spain, Germany, France etc
Do you see S*y stopping these subscriptions? - Pot and Kettle springs to mind!

As I said before some football is 100% free on European satellite - I repeat 100% free, with no encryption whatsoever.
Can someone please show me where it says it is illegal to receive an overseas broadcast to watch in my own home?
Any more questions & comments I will try to answer.0 -
gooner there are a few others that i have lets say i have come across too, am coming across one in 20mins infact, cuz Bristol City can been seen beating the Teesiders 3-1 from 3 today:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

Best package is this one:-
http://www.digitalblisting.info/
Lots of live footy, 6 movie channels and (ahem !) adult entertainment.
Have look on this site for prices, or ring them for advice. 12 month subscription is £250 at the moment. However, would suggest you only get a 6 month card as the footy may move to another broadcaster next season. I always get my card in August !
