Boiler has died

The boiler mostly likely supplies power to the thermostat, so its likely the boiler electrical issue

our boiler stopped working when our gas meter stopped working. can't remember if the display turned off on the boiler or not. But I'd check the meter first and then you'll know if you should call your gas supplier who should replace the meter for free as it's their kit. Ours was done within about 4 hours because we're considered a priority household. But that was in August and not on a bank holiday.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. See them cables? We need to know where they go to.Britannia12345 said:Our boiler has just stopped working. There's no display on the boiler and no lights on the thermostat on the wall. I've checked wiring, no fuses tripped etc, it's just these two things that are dead. Any ideas before I call out an engineer?

You'll be embarrassed - and poorer - if it's just a failed fuse. (Ie, a fuse that failed for no good reason).0 -
Always handy to have one of those voltage pen/stick, you can test the cable and find out if there’s voltage there , it won’t tell you what the voltage is but it will tell you if there’s power going to , in this case the boiler/stat..1

They go from the boiler to the thermostat and into a fused socket which also has the alarm wired into it. The fuse is fine and the alarm is working.1 -
When this happened to me, it was a circuit board in the boiler that had gone. I hope you get it sorted quickly.Credit card debt: £8530 £8071

Could you explain, or show, the path from that fused socket to the items?Britannia12345 said:WIAWSNB said:

And, does the alarm have a backup battery? Any indicator lights on it?0 -
The fused socket has a wire to the boiler, then a wire from the boiler to the thermostat. another wire goes from the fused socket to the alarm, and a smaller wire runs off that to the alarm controller. there is no backup battery in the alarm - once the power is turned off it doesn't work.1

Sounds the likely cause with the OP's combi boiler. No fault codes displayed either.zedonk said:When this happened to me, it was a circuit board in the boiler that had gone.
Could also be an internal fuse that's blown. Those no contact electrical testers are useful as previously mentioned.2
