Octopus Energy lost our smart meter data for 17 months – now wants to bill on estimates

It's a fair point.Qyburn said:
If he's on Intelligent Flux that's entirely Octopus's decision. The customer has no control, other than signing up in the first place.matt_drummer said:
The fact that the OP is involved in brown energy (that is importing at a cheap price and storing it to export later at a higher price) just make it worse.
If that is what the OP is on.
I jumped to a conclusion that the OP was controlling it and I really shouldn't have done that.
That isn't what I was talking about though.
I could fill my batteries at night at 7p per kWh and export at 15p per kWh, but I don't as I don't find it ethical.
But that is me and I don't condemn anybody that does it, I just don't want to.
Intelligent Flux is a different matter, Octopus are doing what they want to based on a wider knowledge for their own and the greater good.0 -
The 'Day' tab was always there and it scrolls back through your history day by day, all the Mini did was let you see data which has been harvested by the Mini in real-time and not yet replaced by data obtained via the DCC.jem16 said:
Yes I think it’s the addition of the Today tab that I’m thinking of. It wasn’t there before I set up the Mini but I can see data in the Today section all the way back prior to installation of the Mini.MWT said:
I suspect you are correct, the mini adds the ability to see 'Today' in the Octopus app along with the 'Live' option, but the rest of the history was always available in normal circumstances.jem16 said:
I thought it did but now I’m beginning to doubt myself after reading your last post. Thinking about it more it may always have been there.Qyburn said:
Is that data you couldn't see in your account, prior to installing the Mini?jem16 said:I just set up the Mini last Friday. Looking at the graphs for each day it goes right back to when the meters were installed on the 5th December.

In turn I've assumed Intelligent Flux based on his comment about the battery being chosen as one compatible with Octopus. Ordinary Flux works with anything. There was reference to being billed on "net" which on re-reading are pretty vague.matt_drummer said:

I actually would be surprised if even IOF billed on a true net figure, I would expect it to itemise import and export separately even though the final value is effectively net. However nobody, certainly not the OP, has clarified exactly what you see on an IOF bill, or even an unintelligent Flux bill.1 -
I just found an example IOF bill, albeit a couple of years old. At that time at least it as exactly as I expected, import and export at each rate itemised. It would be VERY interesting to see what this part of the OP's bills looked like.
Had Octopus been filling in estimated (made up) figures for each of those four lines without identifying them as estimates?
