Section 75 dispute

No, s75 doesn't entail a provisional credit like chargeback, and the process is different so I wouldn't expect any comparable timescales, other than by coincidence. Note that chargeback is basically just relaying a claim to another bank (who'd fund any settlement), whereas s75 involves you trying to hold your card company liable and they'll have to pay from their own pockets, so it's a change from them trying to help you to you holding them financially liable directly, i.e. there may be more resistance.

Did we ever learn the basic facts of this case, such as:
Make, model, age, condition and mileage of the vehicle?
Diagnosis of the fault and diagnosis of the cause of the fault?
Cost/value of the car and cost of repair?
All these factors will be considered by the bank when weighing up whether to just pay up or to challenge the consumer to pursue the claim in court.

S75 takes as long as it takes, there is no timescale. Case will be in a Q waiting it's turn.
Strangely a lot of Indian staff can be based in the UK.

No, I'm here to ask questions that I'd like to know, not specific ongoing support or commentary for the case specifics

The problem is .. proper answers to your questions can depend entirely on understanding such things - there's usually no black and white answer in such situations; the facts are usually relevant and important. 🤷♀️

If you are not happy with CC outcome, then take it to FOS.
S75 can be really complicated in cases like this. As age etc (bought a used car a few months ago) just how many? are taken into account & given the retailer has rejected both chargeback & pre arb, where Visa/Mastercard sit in judgment on the case & won. This is going to put serious doubt to your CC on your evidence.
Things like retailers T/C can make or break a case, as S75 relies on breach of contract &/or misrepresentation
End of the day, no one here can make a judgement on your case, with the info given. Refer back to 1st line of my post 👍

But that's OP's point, they're not looking for judgement about their case, simply information about the s75 and chargeback processes themselves, rather than opinions about how successful either is likely to be.

They have been advised about chargeback process & S75.
@Alderbank Hit the nail on the head. Without knowing facts. We are but guessing & at worst ging incorrect advice.

I think this is becoming a bit circular, but anyone taking guesses or giving incorrect advice didn't read the actual question(s) - OP has made it clear that they're not looking for views about their chances of success, which is their prerogative.
