Parking Eye Ticket - Forgot to Enter Car Reg

Hi all
I visited a leisure centre about a week ago, and unfortunately I didn't release their car park had parking eye and you had to enter your reg in a tablet inside (you didn't have to pay, it just covered you for parking for a few hours). I don't recall seeing any signs for it but it could just be me being oblivious. It was also in the evening and dark.
I've since contacted the centre and sent them the parking fine notice and they were going to raise it with them directly for me. They said they couldn't guarantee anything but will do their utmost for me.
In the meantime, what should I do about the fine? It says it goes up to £100 after 14 days (it was issued on the 15th), so is that the 29th or does it take into account weekends/bank holidays? Should I go through the appeals process with them as well, or see what the centre come back with first?
Appreciate it was my fault for not knowing and following the process, but just seems a bit harsh to have to pay it when I was using the facilities. If the centre can't help, is it worth fighting or is it best just to chalk it up to experience and pay the £60?
Thanks.

There is no fine, just an invoice from a private parking company
Clearly the signs didn't alert you to the fact that you needed to register inside on a terminal
Hopefully the centre will get it cancelled
Otherwise its fight it, based on inadequate signage
Please read the official MSE advice regarding private parking company invoices1 -
At worst it's a 'major keying error' which this sindustry thinks you should pay them £20 for it, not £60, not £100.But firstly see what the leisure centre can do to get that to £0, if they can't, appeal on the basis of 'major keying error' by the PE appeal deadline (28 days from parking event). They should 'offer' £20. But if you don't want to pay them anything at all, you could fight it with forum advice and guidance, but be aware it's a long haul flight!
Read the Code of Practice re 'keying errors'.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

"just seems a bit harsh to have to pay it"
You never have to pay it! Seriously, stop looking at the discount. You will pay nothing.
Maybe the PEye website might already show it as cancelled but if not, put in an appeal and mention that the leisure centre have asked for this PCN to be cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you guys for your help. I'll try going on to the parking eye website to see if it has been cancelled. If it hasn't in the next few days I'll put the appeal in and chase the centre.
Is there a guide for writing an appeal on this basis?1 -
I already gave you the sentence you need!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you. I'll give the centre a few days to get back to me and then I'll put the appeal in.2

Happy New Year all!
The centre have confirmed they have emailed parking eye to stop the ticket, but it's still showing as live when I log into the portal.
I believe the appeal deadline is the end of this week, so I was going to send it across on Friday if I haven't heard back from the centre (I have emailed them for an update) or the ticket isn't removed from the portal.
Do I just simply say that the centre has requested this be stopped, please do as you are told, or do I need to give details around there being no charge to park and I was using the facilities (so legally parked), and it was the lack of signage which caused it.0 -
Just stick to the fact, that the driver was a legitimate customer and that the centre has emailed a request for the pcn to be cancelled2
-
I ended up having to submit an appeal just stating the above, and I asked the centre to send another email which they did. And it worked! Had a confirmation email today that the ticket has been cancelled.
Thank you all for your help.
