Experiences of Moving from BT to EE

I am with BT broadband and received an email offering me a faster speed for a slightly cheaper price than my current deal. I phoned up and they told me that they had an EE deal that was even cheaper. This was on Friday and the new router arrived over the weekend. I haven’t yet unboxed it.
i have since looked online and have read lots of posts on various forums where ex BT customers have done this and regretted their decision. It seems to arise from problems with EE routers.
i realise that it is only likely that I am going to come across complaints and not cases where this has gone well. I wondered if anyone else had gone down this route and whether they have had a positive experience?
Also, I know that I can keep my BT email address - but some posts seem to suggest that you lose some of the features and then have to pay a charge to keep them. I can’t work out if this still applies?

Have a relative who changed from BT to EE and got an EE branded router. No issues with it in the last 18 months.Always a good idea to have an email address not tied to an ISP so that there are fewer issues should you move ISP.Plenty of free options out there.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

No personal experience but looking at the specs and reviews of the standard BT router (Smart Hub 2) and the new EE routers then the EE routers should give better performance, particularly if you have newer kit that uses Wi-fi 6.
I'd echo the view that having an email address tied to a broadband supplier (even if they say you can keep it - for now, see TalkTalk and Virgin Media) is not optimal. Consider switching to one of the free suppliers.1 -
I moved from BT to EE with no problems about a year ago, although I'm still using my BT router. You don't lose any email functionality.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

Same here - I moved earlier this year when my BT contract was expiring. Was assured I could stay on same router & keep my BT email addresses (I have 2, along with a Gmail address which I am slowly migrating to). All has been fine except the EE website/account pages are cr@ppy & I had an issue with EE refusing to disable voicemail as I am perfectly happy with my answerphone on my landline. Resolved this with the aid of Mr Google & a BT forum & my answerphone kicks in before EE service.EssexExile said:I moved from BT to EE with no problems about a year ago, although I'm still using my BT router. Not BT to EE. But I moved from Plusnet to EE (when I could finally get FTTP and Plusnet doesn't offer a phone service). The whole process was pretty smooth. I think we had 24 hours for the phone to work, but that was it. EE Smart Hub Plus has been fairly soild, no drop outs or rebooting.0

Someone else who moved from Plusnet to EE for the digital phone line. No issues at all and the EE router is much better than the old re-badged homehub5 box I was using with Plusnet.0

Whatever it is, it's a huge upgrade from the Plusnet Hub OneNeil_Jones said:Swipe said:Someone else who moved from Plusnet to EE for the digital phone line. I moved from Vodafone broadband via CityFibre to EE broadband via Openreach and it's been much more reliable. As others have said the router is pretty solid.
I do agree about the website/app it is awful compared to others from other providers.1
