I don't quite understand what a generic receipt is. When I have claimed for lost items I have had to have a receipt within the time frame I'm claiming for showing the basic address (usually house number and post code) .I've always had a cheque back for all my claims- I haven't had a book of stamps since I used to use recorded delivery 12-14 years ago? and claimed for every signature not received- and instead of the 75p or so for the upgrade cost - they sent a book of stamps.dinosaur66 said:savergrant said:
If you post at a post office and get a certificate of posting you can claim a book of stamps in compensation if the buyer says item not received.dinosaur66 said:i have had this happen with buyers many timesbut always when royal mail shows delivered and i put in the tracking number ebay sides with me the seller48t but not signed takes a photo which is helpfull for expensive sales and standard large letter £2£1.55 large letter stamps i refund but i only send my very cheapest items that wayi only post at post offices and have no experience with the ebay in house postingi have about 40 old generic receipts and use these for higher priced items that goes missing to get a full refund / i do not put in a claim if i do not have a receipt for it ,as it requires 30 mins finding the post office receipt / filling in all the paperwork and then sending it to royal mail who get back to you a month later all for a book of first class stamps which i never use/ i have had 2 books of stamps sent by royal mail for nearly 2 years and never used themi lose on average about 10 a year and post approx 2000 so they are not bad
I don't send as many RM items any more, my business is being partly wound down and most of my private stuff is SD. If something does go astray then I rarely claim. On my business account I'd have to faff around trying to find a receipt for original cost, which might be negligible, and most of my private items are very low cost. The last couple of claims I made took months- lots of chasing up and arguing , and basically not worth my time.soolin said:

Whether the item is tracked or not I presume you Still need proof of posting to claim. I get a certificate of posting for anything not in an excluded category. I've had four inr in the last couple of months, three times I've received stamps ( sale value £5-£8) but the other time I got a cheque for selling price and postage £15. My guess is 8 1st class stamps is £13.60 so that might be a cutoff point.0

royal mail give me max £20 on large letters and its £ 75 on small parcels which i send everything royal mail tracked but not signed £4.25but i just send that way because of dodgy customers claiming they never received it or for postmen putting there parcels in safe places without leaving a card and customer tells me where is my parcel and i then show them the picture which royal mail supplies0
