So much for winning your case if you have proof of delivery!

I always thought that if a buyer opened a case against a seller for non delivery that you were safe if you had tracking showing proof of delivery.
I had a buyer purchase one of my items, nothing major £7. He paid on the Tuesday night and I posted Wednesday morning. However, Tuesday lunchtime I get a message ' I want a refund, del date says over 2 weeks away and Im not waiting that long so refund me now'.
I politely explained that the estimated date was just that and that I couldnt refund as I had already posted the item. I knew trouble was coming my way!
It was tracked and the tracking showed delivered just 2 days later so I thought all was well. Next day I get another message- 'Where is it!!!!! says delivered but its not, refund now!!!!!' Later the same day I get 2 more messages from Mr Angry so I tell him to open a case and leave it to Ebay. I upload the tracking at Ebays request thinking its sorted only to get a message from Ebay saying they have refunded the buyer but it will not affect my stats.
So basically even with proof or delivery thhe buyer can still get a refund.

Was your label purchased via eBay? Personally I would block the buyer and report them and would get the money or item back, especially if delivery is confirmed in the eBay transaction.2

I don't lose out as it was Simple Delivery so I dont have to refund myself. Its just ridiculous that he now has the item and a refund. I'm just surprised Ebay paid out.TimeLord1 said:Was your label purchased via eBay? "upload the tracking at Ebays request thinking its sorted"
For simple delivery you shouldn't need to upload tracking, it should already be there.
Did the proof of delivery show it handed to someone with the door open? Or left on the path outside the house?
I had one case on simple delivery, the tracking said 'secure delivery - enclosed porch' but the photo was of parcel on a doorstep. Ebay refunded the buyer but didn't ask me to upload any information.1 -
I had this on a marketplace I don't sell much on (not one that ever gets named here, it's much more of a business one). I had an image of it on the buyer's doorstep. The buyer claimed it was stolen. I was inclined to believe him (prior to refund he bought the same item from me, from a different website) but said he should contact the police or ask around his neighbours. The marketplace said that an image on a doorstep wasn't proof of delivery, only being held in someone's hand was proof and they refunded.I've since quit that marketplace..0

What they do if there's anything about the delivery location, left in a safe place, or the last scan was inside a van? The map pinpoint is off. Then on one occasion they'll refund. Usually because the buyer is complaining to customer service. But state it's a one-off.swingaloo said:

If couriers followed their own policies on 'safe places' far fewer parcels would go missing from doorsteps imo.0

If you post at a post office and get a certificate of posting you can claim a book of stamps in compensation if the buyer says item not received.dinosaur66 said:i have had this happen with buyers many timesbut always when royal mail shows delivered and i put in the tracking number ebay sides with me the seller48t but not signed takes a photo which is helpfull for expensive sales and standard large letter £2£1.55 large letter stamps i refund but i only send my very cheapest items that wayi only post at post offices and have no experience with the ebay in house posting0 -

I don't quite understand what a generic receipt is. When I have claimed for lost items I have had to have a receipt within the time frame I'm claiming for showing the basic address (usually house number and post code) .I've always had a cheque back for all my claims- I haven't had a book of stamps since I used to use recorded delivery 12-14 years ago? and claimed for every signature not received- and instead of the 75p or so for the upgrade cost - they sent a book of stamps.dinosaur66 said:savergrant said:

I don't send as many RM items any more, my business is being partly wound down and most of my private stuff is SD. If something does go astray then I rarely claim. On my business account I'd have to faff around trying to find a receipt for original cost, which might be negligible, and most of my private items are very low cost. The last couple of claims I made took months- lots of chasing up and arguing , and basically not worth my time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
