Never heard of CEX? Do you walk about with your eyes closed?
Spot the townie! Some of us don't live in and avoid if at all possible towns and cities.  So how would we notice CEX shops?

    Well that escalated..

Got a call from my local CEX and the manager asked me to come in so off I went.

Apparently the investigation is already complete because they viewed the CCTV footage and saw that the day before I bought the phone it was shown to a traveller who switched it.

And that was the entirety of what the manager told me as well in case anyone does feel the urge to ask more questions.

Anyway, I have to go back there tomorrow to return the fake phone and I will receive a full refund so to say I’m relieved is a little bit of an understatement.

Thankyou to everyone who got involved in this thread and gave some excellent advice.
    To get back on topic...

It's good to hear that the OP has had a positive ending to this.

I'm not sure the presence (or not) of CEX style shops on cities and towns high streets is relevant.

How he spends his money is his business, just as his you spend yours is your business.

Do you only buy essential items or do you buy presents for others at Christmas or birthdays?

    Do you treat yourself sometimes?
If he's on benefits then it's tax payers money that's buying him a £18000 iphone!

I didn't know that inflation had gone up by that much in the last month.

Sorry, I'm still stuck on the "I spent £1.8k on a phone" bit.
People spend £20k or more on wristwear, when you can get a perfectly adequate watch for 0.1% of that.
Spending £1800 on a phone is a valid choice of you've got that much disposable income.

How much is your Rolex worth in 50 years? Five times what you paid. How much is your phone worth in 5 years? Nothing. Your definition of 'valid choice' appears to differ from mine, and on a money saving site too.
People buy fireworks. Literally, money going up in smoke. They buy alcohol, and there's no level of drinking alcohol that is safe. What can you do...?

People also breathe, which causes cellular damage. The best option is to not be born at all, then you can never die.
That was posted on Christmas Day. Sounds like you were enjoying yourself! :)
Definitely better than most Christmas Days. I got to read the Consooomer Roights board for a right laugh.

It is his money to spend as he wishes just as you spend your money as you wish.

Nowhere does it state what benefit money can be spent on.
