Afternoon all, DS turned up early yesterday and so we had most of the day together to do stuff. We managed to fit in games on the TV (using our phone to play catchphrase and pub quizzes) we also played a murder mystery and snacked most of the day whilst playing these 🤭 in the evening we got a takeaway and watched TV. I was in bed by 10 ish though I am absolutely exhausted by that point most days 🙈
This morning the kids both woke up around 8:30 and we had a lazy morning getting tea, coffee, breakfast without the manic unwrapping that would usually happen when they were small 🤣 I am kind of glad to have a chilled adult Christmas these days. Not sure how I used to manage with three tearing open presents and fighting and shouting all the while I'd be trying to do five jobs 🤣. DS wanted to help with dinner which was very sweet, we all peeled and chopped the veg ready so it was lovely and easy compared to a usual Sunday roast. Too many cooks spoil the broth so I kind of let DS take the lead on how he wanted to do the roast potatoes and carrots/ Parsnips etc and I did the Brussels as he wasn't sure. My new oven handled it all well, seven shelves all full with food. I saved the potatoes at the last minute as they were a tad too wet to crisp enough but all turned out well and even DD who hates roasts complimented it 🥰😊. DP is cleaning up and I'm taking half hour to digest dinner and chill.
I got some lovely presents from friends, family and feel very blessed.
I hate to say it but DS2's energy wasn't missed around the table. We always have to be so careful what we say so as not to offend and today we just had a laugh and it was lovely. I miss DS2 though and was upset hearing him on the phone with DD (but he didn't want to talk to me ..and TBF he didn't say much to DD and sounded very robotic). Perhaps next Christmas he will grace us with his presence 😊 I'd love that. But for now I am just taking it as a win that he's happy enough and we had a nice day together too.
Right I think it might be PJ's and frangelico on ice time with a movie. I hope everyone has had a good day, especially those who struggle at this time of year for whatever reason.
I borrowed this off another diary ... 💓🎁💓

Glad you had a lovely day. (nice thoughtful pic too)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
Afternoon all,
Boxing day is a slow one here, I'm sat on the sofa with a cuppa and the only noise I can hear is the TD whirring. DP has gone for a walk, I should go with him, but I didn't I wasn't feeling up to it. DD and DS have gone to see my sister, and my mum and other sister afterwards. I don't think I should go with them. So I'm all alone and just chilling 😊.
I've had my blood tests back on my NHS app and run them through DP AI chat as he has the expensive paid for one, for work. I ran them with the tests I had done in march alongside for comparison. So one thing stood out, my triglycerides had jumped from a number that was borderline not normal (1.8 I think in march) to 4.6. which is hugely different. My B12 was on the lower end. Also something suggesting path for diabetes 🙁. And kidneys not working optimally. I think there was something else too which I'll have to go back and look at as I've forgotten. I will discuss with the doctor next week when I go and see if they pick up similar things. If they don't I am tempted to pay for some private medical care. The symptoms I've got are not imagined and they are getting worse to the point I'm not sure how I will manage my new full time job 🙈. Would love to start 2026 on the path to good health so I guess the fact AI chat has picked something up is good but unsure if Dr will pick up on same things as their parameters for normal seem larger. Fingers crossed they will and offer some solutions.
One thing is definite now. I need to diet. I'm 5'3" and weigh probably 12 and half stone now. I'm pretty small boned and framed and always have been until menopause so the extra weight doesn't sit well, it feels heavy. And I have a large chest which I don't think helps. I'll have a think about what dieting I can incorporate as a long term thing. Fasting used to work very well for me so I may try that again. I was struggling with dizziness the last time I tried it but I may have to just push through that. I don't want to do the likes of slim fast, weight watchers etc although slimming world worked quite well before but I've not tried it on a plant based diet so unsure if it would work for me this time. 🤔 Anyway I'll have a think. One of the blood tests suggested my carb and sugar intake was too high. I don't really like pasta so rarely have that. I don't avoid bread anymore but I also don't eat it very much. Rice I like though and do eat a fair bit of it..will look to see if brown rice does the same 🤔. Sugar,......my nemesis. When I'm exhausted I reach for it. I've spent the last two years approx, utterly exhausted. Bah. Humbug. How depressing. I'm surrounded by Xmas treats and feel I can't touch any!
Ooo and to end on a more positive note, yesterday DS banged on the window to get my attention whilst he was out having a cig, there was a fox in the garden! It spent about three hours out there. I was concerned it was injured at first as thought they were nocturnal but upon investigation online it suggests they can and will come out during the day if they feel safe enough. It was laid under our broken bench for ages then as the sun came out it went and laid in my fruit bush patch and was sunbathing 🥰 so cute. It was a big one too, much bigger than my FLD used to be 😊.
DS managed to get really close to it and it seemed completely unfazed, although wasn't friendly enough to come right up it obviously felt happy enough to sit, eyes closed and sunbathe a while 😀🦊.
This made me happy as back in another life to me my father was a red coat (not the Butlins type 🏇🏻 ..... ) and this is how I'd rather see a fox, sunbathing and allowed to live and be happy 😊💖.Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500

Glad you are having a nice chilled day. Great idea to check your stats, writing it all down for the doc will hopefully get you both on a path to solving or further tests
