2023 parking fine, was unloading equipment into a venue

Hi all,

I have read and read numerous threads in here now. And I’m still uncertain which approach is best to compile my defence.  I have never received a parking ‘fine’ or anything for this event other than threatening letters from DCBL then DCBL Legal. At the time of the event I was not parked up I was unloading equipment into the venue for an event I spoke to the manager at the time that said I did not need a parking ticket. I then received another ‘fine’ for reloading the van in the evening.

Do I Deny being the driver all together, or do I explain the situation that I was not parked up I was simply loading and unloading for the venue!  No ‘fine’ was ever received and the first I knew about this was when a letter from DCBL came through two years later.

Please help with any advice, and as previously stated I have read the newbies thread numerous times & can’t seem to find anyone with a similar situation as others are parked on yellow lines etc. So do not wish to be directed back to that, I’m simply looking for some advice on which way you think I should proceed with this. Thanks

If you were there for say 30 minutes each time, the parking scammers will say you were on site for 30 minutes, what ever you think is parking they will disagree it's how they make money
Why haven't you complained to the venue that told you you didn't need a parking ticket, if it's their land they engaged the parking company?
It's pretty obvious that these invoices were issued by ANPR which cannot not link in to someone's conversation, did that person have access to the system to whitelist your vehicle which they never did?

You certainly don't lie about who was driving! There is nowhere in this forum that says that.

  • I have spoke to the venue, they said the company got sold on in 2023 so there is nothing they can do about it. Iv also emailed them but again no reply. It was over two years later that I received the ‘fine’ demanding money from DBCL

I didn’t receive any correspondence prior to this. At no point did I say that it was advised by anyone on this forum to deny being the driver. That was my own suggestion. As iv been given no proof by them of me being there.

I have lodged my acknowledgement and have until 28th to file defence - in section 3 do I simply just explain my situation of being told by the manager that I didn’t need a ticket for unloading?

Name the private parking company claimant that are using DCB LEGAL

Post the Issue date from the top right of the claim form below

Post a redacted picture of the POC from the lower left of the claim form below after hiding the VRM details first

Only then can people here decide what should be in your defence  ( note the word DEFENCE,  not Witness Statement. )  resist the urge to explain things at this early stage

Have you lived at the same address since before the parking event? The usual reason for only hearing about a private PCN later on, from a debt crawler, is when your vehicle V5C had the old address on it and therefore, that's the address the DVLA gave to the PPC.

At no point did I say that it was advised by anyone on this forum to deny being the driver. That was my own suggestion. As iv been given no proof by them of me being there.
Yes - sorry I worded that badly; I didn't mean that someone here had told you to do so - but not saying who was driving is not the same as "denying" being the driver.

The former is OK. The latter is a lie.

    Doesn't matter! Do it now.

There's no discussion needed: just use the final one in the Smart Parking Group thread.

No need to check it (please don't post it here asking if it's OK). We created that thread as we had so many Smart Parking claims, all the same.  There a forty cases linked on page 14 of the Public Consultation thread alone!
