Finding an old car registation

I am looking to contact my finance provider about claiming back undisclosed commission, as per Martin's advice, but using his online form, I get stuck at 'enter car registration' as I don't know it or have any old records to source, and the form won't let me progress any further.
I know the dealer, their address, the address I lived at when I bought the car from new, and the year - I have bank statements showing monthly payments for 3 years. But, without the registration I can't progress any further.
I've tried contacting the DVLA, but they couldn't help as they don't keep vehicles owned under people's names.
I've got no old paperwork, and have gone through my old emails and insurance/comparison websites without any joy.
The only option I have left is to contact the dealer to ask, but as the purchase was back in 2007, they can claim (legitimately) that they only keep records for 7years as part of data protection, and I fear I will then be on their radar and will avoid me making any further contact/claim.
Can anyone advise me on any other avenues I could try?

No family photos of the shiny new motor? Bit early for smartphones but digital cameras were a thing then.0

Don't use Martin's form. Go straight to the finance company. The only option I have left is to contact the dealer to ask, but as the purchase was back in 2007, they can claim (legitimately) that they only keep records for 7years as part of data protection, and I fear I will then be on their radar and will avoid me making any further contact/claim.When in 2007? The qualifying date is April 2007.
Its also worth noting that the finance company may not have any records either after all this time.
