Soundproofing a window

Vehicle 'noise' can also be through vibration of solid objects. Earplugs won't block that.MyRealNameToo said:Surprised the foam earplugs dont work but if your ears are really that weird then get some custom ones made. Not that expensive and will make the whole night quieter for you not just the neighbour going to work.1 -
Yes I'd thought about that Section.
I might have a go at surrounding with cushions. I have a few, of course it will look like a tts boudoir 😄
Kwimp that sounds horrible. A good night's sleep and I'm almost pain free and can deal with the poor mobility with a smile.
As much in your case I would think.
Anyway he's having his nap now mummy's given him lunch 😏
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Fully understand wanting to have the quiet and hear the wildlife, as someone who has spent most of their time living in the countryside.
If surrounding the bed doesn't work, perhaps a white noise machine set on a timer, so that you fall asleep with the quiet and owls etc, but it comes on once you're asleep, and before the neighbour goes out in his car. The white noise machine might not be enough to cut through your sleep and wake you, but may be enough to prevent the noise of the car waking you.
You could probably even do it with an ocean sounds soundtrack instead of typical white noise.1 -
All noise can travel through solid objects thats how you get news reports of people saying they heard gun shots when there has been a shooting in a school etc but anyone who has been to a shooting range will know that ear defenders significantly cut it down.Section62 said:

It doesnt have to be reduced to zero, just low enough to not wake up the OP1 -
I find with earplugs that they are great for reducing noise eg in a factory or music concert, but when it's quiet, it's really noisy inside my ear. There's definitely a scientific explanation, I don't know what it is though.Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments, it's given me some new ideas 🙂
I have lots of quilts stored which would be easier than cushions to see if that would be a barrier by hanging across the bay somehow.
Or perhaps start with over the curtains.
That's a start , see how that goes 🙂I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Something like this with some background noise on a loop?

If you have an Amazon Alexa there is a skill called rainforest sounds that I play to block out noise for sleep. I lived next to an all night freight line in London and it really worked.Officially in a clique of idiots1 -
Could something be rigged up with foam soundproofing attached to the inside of the window frames with hook and loop so it is easy to remove and replace.
Edit - just did a bit of reading and it might not be a solution. I did however find sound reduction curtains that are fitted to the frame like that.1 -
Keeping up with the suggestions 🙂
Handmade patchwork Quilt at side and half front window secured with drawing pins.
Only snag will be the condensation behind which might cause mold on the quilt .
But see if it works first before I buy anything 🤔
No Alexa Fraggle. But I recorded a blackbird singing one morning for my alarm.
It was so lovely that I drifted back to sleep instead of waking up 😏
Kipster, that's sort of the idea I was hoping for.
Regular or continuous noise can be got used to but irregular and sudden is the problem.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You can get soundproof curtains. They don't cut out everything, but friends had them in front of the connecting doors between their house and the annexe they rented out on AirB&B.1
