and there is no point in joining a Trade Union now and expecting them to help and advise on something that took place before you joined... they won't.
Really? And how I was supposed to predict the future?
So I can't join any "free" organization now?
I mean, I can even pay but in private they asked me 20k just to start, that's crazy...

I'm still employed but not for a long time, am I still in time?
Its not about predicting something bad will happen, its joining an organisation and paying a small contribution to support you in case. If you knew something would happen then the fee would be much higher as its a definite.

Same as insurance, you don't buy once you know there's an issue, you buy ahead of time in case.

Trade unions can only advise on something that occured  when you  were a member in Good Standing , some TUs will provide 'local' support  for those who join as someothing is announced or who were not yet in Good Standing whe  something occured ...  ( although Many  TUs now offer Day 1  cover or cover from the  first  of the next month rather than  cover fro mthe month after your  first subs were paid  )
