Wow, not seen ti, and I'm wary of the new introductions, some flare brightly then burn out in a mess of black spot & mildew
However I did see it is from £27.50 bare root, in sprit if MSE, wait 'til winter & get bare root?

5 sweetcorn babies potted on last night, and the 4 more grown up ones are now in the ground with slug collars "just in case" although we think they are probably big enough to stand up for themselves. We've cut down dramatically on the space between plants this year as well - as someone else said, planting spaces on seed packets are for farms, not small garden veg plots!
I've selected the two best Tromboncino squash plants - they all have splits in their stems to some extent but seem to be doing OK in spite of it - and those have been potted on again - we've prepped the holes for them to go into but will hold off on putting them in until the beginning of June I think. The spares of those are staying in their current pots for the time being.
4 new seedlings of the marketmore cucumbers have also been potted on - we're aiming to grow 3 so between those and the one that survived out of the first batch we will hopefully have enough.
Calendulas have been planted around the garden and also some in a pot with seed for wallflowers and asters added - if it all does its thing that will be a riot of colour!
I've shifted the strongest looking chillies and peppers into a propagator - it is still outside but hopefully the extra warmth might give them a kick into action as they have all stalled and are doing nothing. the new chillies we sowed don't look like doing anything so we're keen to keep the others going! The other things doing nothing are the beans - I don't recall them taking this long before but they're showing no signs of life - again though I suspect the cool weather is a factor.
The front garden our apparently "compact bush" rose is being a thug again. I think we're gong to have to cut it pretty much back to the ground in the winter and see if that curtails it a bit - otherwise it might have to come out. It's a good thing that next door love it as it's half over their garden again now! It's completely loaded with buds and the first few flowers are out too - it IS pretty, I just wish it didn't want allllll the space!

I had started off some carrots in compostable pots (after hacking off the bottoms). These have now been planted out in an 80l dustbin filled with a mix of compost & sharp sand.
Also planted out a couple of tomato plants in their final pots (12l builders buckets with holes drilled in the bottom).
Spotted some flowers on the pineberry plants, so might have some fresh fruit to munch on later in the year.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Ooh, never thought about putting bunting and fairy lights in my new shed…now there's a thought. I'm sure DH will roll his eyes in disgust…LOL. But this is my shed, he has his own big metal one, this little wooden one is just for my gardening bits and a nice shelf for potting. So I shall decorate it I think.

Love the table @EssexHebridean . Nice job on the greenhouse @droopsnoot .
Took a chance and planted out the aubergine, chillies and tomatoes in greenhouse (growbags). Cucumbers under cloches.
Sowed the summer squash, pumpkin and courgettes in pots (had low germination last year, so 2 different sized pots and new seeds), in the boiler cupboard.
Transplanted some herbs into pots, first time tried growing from seed and potting up, so fingers crossed.
Steady supply of radishes and salad leaves.
An animal played in boxes on allotment, had to rescue garlic, beetroot etc. will cover with bamboo tomorrow.

On RHS web site,
Near bottom of page, but I never went any further or looked for links, maybe they are fishing for e mail addresses at the moment?
The rose is available to buy from 18 May 2026 through the David Austin Roses website, at their Shropshire plant centre and from selected stockists. Prices start at £27.50 for bare root plants

Bare root will probably be available in the autumn, once bare root season starts again :)

Not bought it but surprised how much I liked it. Prefer a pastel rose if they are not vivid red, personally. One of the local papers says it is available at the David Austin Plant Centre in Shropshire and from "Selected stockists" (un-named) for £27.50
