Simple Delivery : wrong weight

I listed an item several months ago, with my postage set as a small parcel, even commenting to this effect in the listing.

The item has now sold, but the pre-paid label provided by ebay (using EVRi) gives a maximum weight of 1kg. I measured the weight and it is, in fact about 1.4kg

What should I do ?

I didn't list as Simple Delivery .. it must have been changed by ebay

    Do nothing.
Just print the label and post it.

When you click on 'get prepaid label' you might get offered an option (pop-up in the middle box) to change the size/weight at no charge but don't worry if not.

Any items that have been change over by ebay (rather than the seller) are covered for any weight regardless of what the label says.

It’s happened to me both with RM and Evri. On all occasions I’ve had a message from eBay saying courier has reported that my item was too large or too heavy but not to worry as eBay had provided the label and the extra cost will be covered by eBay.

Just had a look through some of the recently sold items I originally listed ages ago with custom postage.
About 75% of the ones that have been 'automatically upgraded' to simple delivery I've been over charged for.
They would all have originally been 1kg large letters (although admittedly I may not have entered the size/weight into the listing details)
I've been charged at 2kg small parcel rate for most of them so I think eBay are probably doing quite well out of this at the moment!

Did anybody see the Panorama programme last night about EVRi.

If I remember correctly, EVRi pay their drivers based on the parcel weight and size. Some drivers were saying they are getting paid for small lightweight items 9the cheapest rate per parcel), when in fact they are delivering large, heavier items

    I did see that program.
Drivers do get paid a bit more for bigger parcels.
There will be a few senders that under-pay at the time of booking.
I'm sure a few of these items get missed during the automated inspections as they get sorted but the vast majority are correct.
Of the ones that are under-declared, again, most get picked up (and the sender billed for the extra)
The adjustment in pay is made to the drivers but neither the label or the info on the scanner gets updated.
I think if the drivers actually looked at the pay details they had received they would find they are mostly correct.

I don’t do freepost/seller pays so my costs have decreased slightly as previously I had factored in the small percentage charge that eBay added to postage. My small parcels are costing the buyers less as they mostly go at £2.98 instead of the £3.50 (or so I was charging them (or whatever RM is charging now) . Virtually all of my large letter items have remained custom postage, so no change there. I have actually opted to change a few LL items , those over 100g and over £10 just as it’s great not to have to worry about INRs.

If it's RM small parcel the price is the same up to 2kg, so there would be no more to pay for a 1.4kg parcel declared as 1kg.

The eBay contract with RM though has negotiated different rates, their sizes are up to 1 kg and 1-2 kg with different prices.

Ebay prices are not the same as royal mail directly.
Items I have recently listed myself using simple delivery are £2.70 postage.
The same size items on older listings (that have been switched to SD by ebay) are being charged at £3.38
Ok, it's only cost me about £7 extra this month but I don't expect I'm the only one...
