The following is the Early Day Motion in parliament supporting the Not In Front Of The Kids campaign.

EDM347 DEBT: NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN CAMPAIGN16.06.2005
Flello, Robert
That this House is greatly concerned that specialist children's TV channels are screening advertisements from secured loan companies, which aim to persuade the generally less well-off to take out loans using `pester power' by the young people watching those channels; commends the Debt: Not in Front of the Children campaign by the consumer finance website moneysavingsexpert.com, which is calling for specialist TV channels to withdraw immediately those advertisements and supports its petition against such advertisements that have resulted in one in three children pressuring their parents by repeating slogans from TV loan advertisements, and one in 10 pestering their parents to take out such loans.

If you want to get your MP to add their name, there is an excellent website:
https://www.faxyourmp.com
Fill in the boxes and it sends a fax to your MP (it knows who it is from your postcode). This really does work as I've used it before and got a reply from my MP.
Note the site guidelines when using it, e.g. be polite, etc.
Doesn't need to be a long message, just draw their attention to the EDM. For example:
Dear xxx,
I would like to bring your attention to an early day motion - referenced EDM347 DEBT: NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN.
This motion is concerned with the amount of advertising on specialist children's TV channels from secured loan companies and I have put the text of the motion below for your information.
Text of EDM: "That this House is greatly concerned that specialist children's TV channels are screening advertisements from secured loan companies, which aim to persuade the generally less well-off to take out loans using `pester power' by the young people watching those channels; commends the Debt: Not in Front of the Children campaign by the consumer finance website moneysavingsexpert.com, which is calling for specialist TV channels to withdraw immediately those advertisements and supports its petition against such advertisements that have resulted in one in three children pressuring their parents by repeating slogans from TV loan advertisements, and one in 10 pestering their parents to take out such loans."
As a father of two, I recognise this as a genuine issue which I believe it is important for you to support and I hope you feel able to do so.
Yours sincerely,0 -
They put the wrong website. It says moneysavingsexpert.com0

I've written to my MP with the above stock letter provided by SB, thanks. Should hear in a fortnight, it stated after sending the email.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

me too thansk for that.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
I just got a reply:
Dear Mr Barron
Thank you for your letter of 7 July. I rather agree with you that there is some advertising, especially on some children's channels, which is greatly to be deplored.
I'll certainly look at this EDM with a view to signing it, but as a shadow minister I am discouraged from signing EDMs save in exceptional circumstances, but I shall make sure I have a word behind the scenes with Government Ministers about this important issue. I, like you, am a father of two.
Good wishes,
Yours sincerely,0 -
Well I've tried to find out for myself but gone round and round till I ended with a thread that no longer exists..................................so I better just ask.
Has there been any further on the letter to the tv companies or the early day motion
thanks for any help forthcoming:D0 -
