RESOLVED: Utility Warehouse take over my TalkTalk broadband contract and raise the price

  • I was also with Shell energy and Account changed over to Talk Talk . Change over to UW was a fiasco no broadband for two weeks as each said I was not a customer with them , eventually UW recognised me as their customer and renewed my router I did get some compensation from TalkTalk but now I find my monthly charge has increased by about 40% and my contract with Talk Talk which was due to run out this year is now until June 2027 and will cost me £150 to change to another supplier. How can they do this? There was very little information given out about the change over and no option to seek a new supplier. Customer Service seems to be a thing of the past these days.

Can you look at changing to another supplier who refund early termination fees?
Vodafone - who I'm due to switch to next week - do, and I think EE do as well.

I'd also make a formal complaint just to document how unhappy you are with the way you've been treated.

  • I was with TT and now with UW ,when i called them and complained about the bill ,they said it will be correct next month ,i asked about the on going charge for the youview box i have ,they said thats TT equipment and not theirs ,tried calling TT,phoned them up and the non human service said " put your number in then #,did not recognise the number " ,must be because we are now with UW so will have to wait to see if we get a bill every month for the £5 less 50% .

  • Just an update ,this month the bill was less than half of the previous bill ( which was too high ) will be interesting to see what next months bill will be ,i will report back at the time.

OP here, and yes, February's bill seems to have had £15 deducted from it, which I guess is a correction for the £5/month they have been overcharging me. So it means that since the switch to UW they have now charged me the same as what TalkTalk would have charged, which is good. We'll see what happens next month.
No real explanation of this, and my communications with customer support drag on and on with no resolution.

  • same here, after seemingly getting nowhere complaining, Febs bill is £6, should be £19.10 has been £24, not sure what's going off, but my contract ends in July anyway

Do you get an option of remaining with them "out of contract" ?

    ie) PAYG ?

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.
  • didn't get any options at all, I sent them screen shots of my TalkTalk bill never got a reply, now they've reduce the bill
