ii new price plan

I've had the email from ii about the new price plan i am currently on the £11.99 fee which will increase to £14.99  I have a joint trading account with my wife with 60k worth of shares nothing else and buy or sell on average once a month. I am wondering if it would be more beneficial to move to the core plan at £5.99  ?

There is plenty of discussion of this in the ongoing thread at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6645059/ii-new-platform-plans-2026

Yes i've read the thread. But there's nothing really specific to my question.

I mean that you could have joined the active discussion instead of creating a new topic.
Are you asking if it is better to pay a platform fee of £5.99 + £3.99 for one trade instead of £14.99 all in?
  • Because it doesn't come into effect until Feb next year.

I've assumed that portfolios under the new limit of £100,000 will move automatically to the cheaper core plan. But I'm not ii so I can't guarantee it.

There's an existing £5.99 plan, but I see now that's pension only and up to £50k.

I know i will be better off going to the £5.99 fee but i dont know why they are moving me to the £14.99 fee. I have been with them for 15 years and just go along with what they say out of blind loyalty.

Yes, we're on that with an ISA, and coming close to the £50k limit, so a jump to £11.99 would be a big rise. The new £100k limit makes the extra £1 a month very palatable - and better than Vanguard for instance.

I am obviously misinterpreting your question "I am wondering if it would be more beneficial to move to the core plan at £5.99  ?"
It's good that you know that you'll be better off moving to the £5.99 plan. Another option is to move to a cheaper platform.
Blind loyalty is never a good idea. Alternative options have been discussed in the other thread.

Are you sure? Do you have something other than an ISA, SIPP, or GIA? The ii web pages imply that the move to the appropriate plan will be automatic.
