Door not closing tightly

Newbies to stoves!
We have 2 Firemaster stoves. The door on the one in the dining room fits perfectly. Have done the paper test & you cannot pull it through.
However we have problems with the lounge one. When alight it burns quickly and you can pull paper through the door when closed.
Our first thought was to swap the rope but we swapped the door on each one and it doesn't improve the lounge one with gap.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

You say you're a newbie. Is that because you've just had the stoves fitted, or are the stoves a pre-existing feature in a property you've only recently moved into?If the stoves are new, you need to get the installer back to fix whatever's wrong. If they are old stoves, the problem is going to need a bit more thought and effort.N. Where is the clearance on the hinge or latch side. Are the hinges or latch adjustable enabling you to pull the door a bit closer to the stove body. is this any help -
https://youtu.be/5bJHcZ5wz9I look on the interweb for something similar for the latch
Potentially the door rope has been compressed to the point where it needs replacing. Its not a difficult job, you just need the correct diameter rope, some rope cement and plenty of patience to remove the old rope and clean the glue/cement out the groove.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I'll take a look. Neither of them have rope cement, they both just pull outmatelodave said:Where is the clearance on the hinge or latch side. Are the hinges or latch adjustable enabling you to pull the door a bit closer to the stove body. is this any help -

did this ever get resolved - if so it would be nice to know how so it could help others with a similar problemNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I was wondering whether the stove had always been like this, and it was a manufacturing error (or possibly, just much wider tolerances were acceptable at the time it was made). Or possibly the cast iron body had stress-relieved in use and warped slightly.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. It may be worth getting the stove serviced. That will check everything you need and allow it to be put right, as what you describe sounds as if there is an issue. The rope does need to be replaced over time.northwest1965 said:

We still haven't resolved it. When the door is swapped with the identical stove in the other room, it fits tight.matelodave said:did this ever get resolved - if so it would be nice to know how so it could help others with a similar problem
