just take a UK 4 bar extension lead and a single adapter. Personally prefer just an adapter for the country being visited than one of the ones that claim to do every country in the world but ends up being really bulky and a pain to work out which levers to pull or bits to twist
I personally would not do this. Travel adapters tend to be very poorly made.  Extension cable are the number one cause of in the Uk. So I can’t imagine the
risks abroad.  Single units with usb’s as required.

I would partly agree - there are a lot of cheap travel adapters and extension cables, but spending a little more (i.e. not bargain basement) gets a much better quality product.

The other risk of the adapter + 4bar extension cable is that multiple devices are plugged in that may overload the cable / room socket it's plugged into.

I do this, but with one of the short 3-way leads that you sometimes see. It's easier to fit in my travel bag.

    Number one cause of what?
It's not house fires - the most common cause of those is cooking appliances.

Agreed. More of a risk if you take heated appliances away with you (hairdryer/straighteners/kettle/toaster), less so if your main interest is charging your phone and laptop.

No 1 cause of what @sjeenas?

If you want to say fires then you are far off the mark, cooking appliances are the cause of 44% of fires. Electrical faults is only 14% and of those faulty wiring, loose connections and poor installation are the highest not overloaded sockets/ extensions.

If you want to consider fatal fires then smoking materials is the most common followed by cooking appliances.

Dont believe the urban myths, plus not sure how many people are taking oil filled radiators, fan heaters etc on holiday which are going to be the main risk of high load on a plug. Hair dryer is pretty much the only high wattage most will take. Things like hair straighteners tend to be 100w or less

I now only take USB powered items, an adapter and a small plug in USB block with 4 USB B and C outlets and a few different USB cables.

Most hotels now also have USB power outlets in rooms so no adapters are required.
If only hair straighteners came with USB ports I would agree with you!

I use one of these travel adapters, it has two USB-A outlets, plus it has an overcurrent safety trip [that can be reset] to prevent overloading/overheating. currently selling for £9.98 with free UK delivery
