    Hi, newbie here!

I'd like to join please 😊

I've made £62 in cashback so far this January (TCB £25 on 2 Cahoot savings accounts and £12 on a Plum ISA).

I've also got a load of freebies from FB Marketplace today - an Ikea sofa worth £200, a lamp worth £42 and a brand new 5L tin of paint worth £40!

I guess I can't add freebies to my total?

Happy new year to everyone! 😊

How do I join this challenge please?
Welcome to the challenge.  Just keep track of your extra money made and come back here and let us know.  You can enter every time you make something or, like me and others, come back once a month with your totals.  I find it a good idea to use a spreadsheet.  Good luck x

Just to clarify if you get eg cashback on anything it is not making money but saving it. So cannot be counted in this challenge

    Making money eg
    Money wins
    Interest on savings
Winning an item (value of item)
    Vinted and eBay sales
    Selling books

In your first post you mention Quidco and Topcashback. I've always included any money I make from TCB as it's extra money for something I would have bought anyway.

@purplevamp I have removed that from my listing now. As you are not making money, just getting a cash back.

My 2p's worth would be that it depends which cashback you're getting. If It's a case of ``Get 0.5% cashback when you shop at Morrisons" then I'd agree it's not really making money as it'd be more comparable to getting a discount.

On the other hand if it's a case of ``Open a current account with Santander, it won't cost you any money and you'll get £25" then I'd say that instance it would be more comparable to getting a freebie and would still be be making money.

Of course it's entirely up to you where you wish to draw the boundary between making money and saving money, with these things it's not always as easy a balancing act as many assume, but given you've included savings interest as making money, one possible option would be to include cashback but only where no spending is required to get it.

I'll make this my only word on the matter as I don't wish to disrupt this challenge in any way.

I have also thought about running two challenges one for making money and one for saving money eg offers .
Interest is earned on money you save .
