Why is there a 10 digit account number on the Transfer Request Form?

Cash ISA transfer from T212 to RBOS - just been sent the transfer request form to review and sign.  The receiving RBOS account has a 10 digit account number that I don't recognise.  Anyone know why?  I have contacted T212 and RBOS to ask why my 8 digit RBOS account number is not on the form and await their replies...

  • It's not your online RBS customer number is it (YYMMDDnnnn)?
  • T212 have responded quickly to say that this is not an account number (despite being in the field called "account number") but is a RBOS reference number.   I await a response from RBOS to confirm this.

My RBS customer no is DDMMYYnnnn

    I was close enough...

No, its a number I don't recognise at all.
  • RBOS have just confirmed it is a customer identification number and is linked to my account (even though it is not the same as my customer number).  T212 are waiting for me to review and approve the transfer to RBOS so I'll approve it now.  Just seemed very strange that the recipient account number was not my actual account number and was 10 digits long.
