To get the free shares triggered, do you have to actually invest the £100 you put in yourself or can it just sit in cash in your account? I have opened an account, deposited £100 but not got an indication of free shares coming. I applied through the MSE page and when I go to input MSE50 into the relevant bit in the app, it says I've already used my free reward when signing up. Hopefully this will be the £50?0

You need to invest in something to be granted the free shares. I didn't use the referral code but still got shares the same day.pedrodelgado said:To get the free shares triggered, do you have to actually invest the £100 you put in yourself or can it just sit in cash in your account? Just don't expect any indicators for when to buy or selltopyam said:I got £50 of BMW shares
Not sure if they're good shares or not. I drive a BMW, and love their cars, so happy with them

I clicked on the link but it's showing as 50 Euros not £50, is that the same for everyone but they actually pay out in GBP?Middle_of_the_Road said:1 -
Showing £ for me on the page you get when you click the link. You put £100 in and invest it. I picked Vanguard All World.jimjames said:

Thanks, showing £ for me now I've added money and got the £50 shares added too. For some reason it had defaulted to location as Netherlands hence the Euro.topyam said:

Got my freebies now. They gave me Rolls Royce. Quality share although a bit toppy at the moment so may consider selling to at least preserve my free £50. I opted to take a punt on Netflix for my £100. It's been a bit battered last few days on the Warner deal /no deal/ Paramount saga and had some upwards momentum after hrs last night and pre today. It's only £100 so no big deal. I only went for the free £50, where else does someone give you 50% back on your money? Just gotta keep an eye now so as not to lose that margin. It does seem a good platform so far though. My share ISA is with Halifax which I started about 10 years ago so have kinda stuck with it as I'm more of a divi income investor rather than a trader but with the low and non existent fees on 212 It's a no brainer for trading. Thanks to all for the advice regarding set up of the account. Good luck to all and happy Christmas.2

Annoyingly, I tried to sign up for this offer and got as far as proving my ID, only to find out they require a passport or photo driver’s license. Since I have neither, I can only hope they remove all the details I had to provide to get to that stage!1

Pity I already had a GIA with them...0
