Mm Bro and previously my MiL had Oxygen concentrators to keep them going and they both got an allowance to pay for the extra electricity costs, so that argument doesn't wash.

TBH people have lost the reason for standing charges which should be for the cost of installing and maintaining the ifrastructure to get it from the generator to you house and to do the billing. Non of which costs more if you are a high or low user.

The problem is that the government have muddied the waters by adding stuff to it like carbon taxes and extras to subsidise people on benefits which are the reasons that standing charges are higher than they should be for every one. Its a bit perverted to give someone on a low income a winter fuel allowance which they have to give back in higher standing charges to pay for the WFA

Supposed to have these low/zero s/c tariffs by the end of this month so not long left to see how the industry and Ofgem treat low/Green users…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the January 2026 date was made only as a proposal at the consultation stage.

The consultation stage has now ended, but I do not believe Ofgem have yet published a final decision.

Can I recall Ofgem going out for further consultation on a variation of their original proposal or was that just a dream of mine?

Anyway, Ofgem stated at the consultation stage that any change to the SLCs will not be implemented until at least 56 days after Ofgem publishes a decision (page 53, para 7 and page 57 para 14)

No, tariffs are supposed to include zero or low s/c from Jan 2026, so two days left, sure Martin Lewis will blast them if none emerge…

All you can expect, at most when it happens (not January) will be a lower standing charge with the difference loaded onto the first couple of units.

As mentioned previously, it's not happening.

You can agitate here as much as you want, but Ofgem haven't even finished the consultation yet.

"Under the plans, these tariffs would be available to customers in every region of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) by January 2026."
