So I have 2009 Toyota Yaris petrol 60K miles
There are scratches on one side we have been quoted £595 to
"Pull dents and repair, sand out damage and repaint - machine polish to complete"
I think once this is done it should have a few more years of life - so it should be worth it, is that correct?
(The gear box was replaced a few years ago).

It's a 16 year old car, with that year on auto-trader from £1000 - £3000. So say mid range, I personally wouldn't pay £595 when, on a car that old and that value, there is likely more expense looming. Has the timimg belt been done?Thomas_Holding said:So I have 2009 Toyota Yaris petrol 60K miles

Personally, I would keep it mechanically 'fit' but not bother one iota about what it looks like. I doubt you're going to recoup that £595 if you decide to sell it...#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3665

It's nearly 17 years old, not worth getting "cosmetic" damage repairedIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales2
-
Agreed. Put the 600 quid towards keeping it mechanically sound, if you plan on keeping it.lincroft1710 said:It's nearly 17 years old, not worth getting "cosmetic" damage repaired
Cosmetic repairs won't extend its useful life.1 -
It has a timing chain, Not a beltIsthisforreal99 said:

Definitely not worth it.
Spending that money will not extend it's life by a single day.1 -
As above. If the goal is to extend the life of the car, this will do a close to nothing as you could get.1

Maybe get it undersealed. I think I paid £200.1

Are the scratches through the paint and primer exposing metal? If so I'd get a paint pen from Halfords and touch them up. Otherwise I'd just leave it alone and keep the £600 for future maintenance. .1

Thank you all - I was worried that it might rust and break down quicker0
