Replace bath to a shower tray

Also the Op needs to check if it’s not just bare bricks under the bath. So would need plastering.

Appreciate all the detailed replies father in law is more then capable as he’s done this and far more complex jobs more then a few times my reasons for asking is he’s 70 and a fit 70 but don’t want to put to much on him if that makes sense.
I’m kinda going to go with the maybe I’ll do it and he can stand and watch approach and help me if needed just wanted to know if it’s doable before I ask him because I know he will just say yeah and do it all and I don’t want that I want to do all the heavy lifting with hopefully some In person guidance.
So yes more than happy with the electric shower to be honest.
With regards to the tray was thinking of going for the same size and length we wouldn’t be able to come out to far width wise as the toilet would be next to the screen then you’d be looking at moving the toilet and then things are really going to get to complex for me.
So going off all that if I went with roughly same size tray as bath and was put in same place with the water pipe all in the same place shouldn’t be a hard job?
then it’s just a matter of sorting out the pipe work that’s leads to the hard and cold taps.
This is my old next door neighbours house so I have same set up just a bath where that shower is and thats the kinda shower I want

The bath just seems unnecessary and waste of time and space it literally gets stood in that’s it it’s more about having better use of the space and it looking more modern I guess£2820/£4000 0% 24 months pay £150 HSBC

As has already been said, think carefully about the resale value of the house. Any family, particularly one with small children, is likely to be put off by there not being a bath.We were lucky enough to be able to leave our bath in place and install a separate walk-in shower. We don't use the bath but when our grandchildren stay over, they do! Without that option we would have stuck with the shower over bath we had before.

Yes I was going to mention the above, really does put off buyers with children.victor2 said:As has already been said, think carefully about the resale value of the house. I had my bath replaced with a large walk in shower in the same space a few years ago.
I took the view that I would do what suited me rather than hypothetical future buyers. It would be a relatively simple job anyway to put a bath back instead of the shower tray. Mine is a three bedroom family house.

We did the same ,we are both 70 plus and found climbing in and out of the bath a struggle ,thought about selling the house in the future when we both pop our clogs but as we will not be here why worry ,if new owners want a bath fitted then thats their problem.Marmaduke123 said:I had my bath replaced with a large walk in shower in the same space a few years ago.

Never seen that arrangement before with a shower screen right in front of the window. How much of a gap is there between the screen and the tiling? Can you clean between them? It's inevitable that dust is going to get down there and you'll get water splashes on the back of the screen.Make £2026 in 2026
