Indigo flight delay compensation

we got caught up in the massive Indian Indigo flight chaos and wish to claim compensation but the company website is not helpful. We were due to catch a flight from goa to Mumbai on the 4th Dec. I had email that night saying my flight had been changed to later that night which was unacceptable as we had other flight to catch from Mumbai to London. we quickly went to airport where we were offered a flight at 3.15am that flight was delayed and left at approx 10.17am we arrived at Mumbai at 11.36am  by the time we collected baggage and got to other terminal it was 13.15. we missed our flight from  Mumbai at 13.10. we spoke to the BA staff and explained we missed our flight due to Indigo delays but because I had booked 2 separate flights they were no help. We then had to book additional flights later the next night to get home. so as our first flight with Indigo  was delayed causing us to miss our BA flight what rights do we have ?

None really, unless there are specific compensation rules for delayed flights within India, but that wouldn't cover the missed flight.

If you're ever travelling using connecting flights, it's always advisable to make a single booking.  If that is not possible, then ensure you have travel insurance that covers missed connections.

Flight schedules can change due to operational reasons.

If your travel insurance has any cover for missed connections then it's highly unlikely that Indigo not being able to fly its schedule due to their inability to comply with new legislation regarding crew rostering and hours would be covered.

Presumably you did fly on Indigo from Goa to Mumbai and they changed your flight for free so any compensation for being late into Mumbai would come under Indian regulations, best of luck with that, however they will not cover consequential losses.

As above, you were not on one ticket all the way so any extra costs not covered by insurance are all yours.

Any rights to compensation will be dependent on the Indigo T&C's of your ticket, or if there's any legislation in Indian Law. UK/EC261 is not applicable to a domestic Indian flight, not sure if there's an equivalent.

British Airways were unfortunately correct, they have no responsibility to you in this scenario.

Travel Insurance is another option dependant on cover level.

I am going to complain so my chances are slim ?  I have read something about Indian aviation regulator we can refer to if indigo don't listen to my complaint. What is best way to complain regarding this ?

    Very very slim.

It was an unfortunate gamble booking separate tickets for your journey.  As others have said, British Airways may offer assistance to rebook but is under no obligation to do so. Any extra cost imposed by BA and in accordance with your fare conditions would be payable by you.

Indigo will consider your flight ending in BOM.  They won’t take responsibility for your onward, non connected ticket to the U.K.

I don’t believe India had any similar passenger legislation to EU261/UK261. Even if it did, an unconnected onward ticket and fare would not be covered.

Travel insurance are going to  pay the claim but we have 50 per person excess. Will we be able to claim that back through section 75 of my credit card ?
