Removing lids to plastic water bottles

Recently, several companies have changed the lid design for bottles, e.g., Sainsbury's Pure Water.
It used to be easy to remove the lid. The new lid remains attached to the bottle after unscrewing. With arthritic hands, it is both challenging and painful to remove the lid. I have tried using adjustable plumbing grips. Is there a tool designed for this purpose?

The idea is that you don't remove the lid, hence increasing the number of lids that are recycled.Do you actually need to remove it for some reason?Make £2025 in 2025

Thank you. I do not need to separate the lid from the bottle. My difficulty is just in opening the new lid.Slinky said:The idea is that you don't remove the lid, hence increasing the number of lids that are recycled.Do you actually need to remove it for some reason?I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Before you rush out to buy a gadget, try wearing a pair of rubber gloves when opening the bottle - sometimes they provide that little extra 'grip'.Be kind to others and to yourself too.2

and
Dycem Jar Openers – Dycem Non Slip
are what the Local Council Occupational Therapist recommended to my wife. They work very well.
There's many clones about that I can't vouch for - the original Dycems are going strong and probably 15 years old now.

My kitchen scissors have a variation on the gadgets that someone has linked to. So you put the cap between the handles and grip the blades to close and get traction on the lid.
Or keep a pair of pliers in the kitchen "junk" drawer (I'm assuming you have one?)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. We've had something like this Norpro Jar Wrench Opener | World Of Craft for years. Works every time.
EDIT - this looks even better value Jar Opener#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661 -
The fact that the lids are now attached to the bottle, should not make it more difficult to unscrew them.
However I have the impression that it does for some reason. Or maybe my grip is not what it was ….1
