New Build - Wrong Kitchen Fitted

Purchased a new build earlier this year, kitchen was offered a free upgrade.
Worktops, unit style and colour agreed.
Popped up to the house yesterday as I’m due to exchange and complete in the next two weeks and I spotted the wrong kitchen has been installed.
I’m assuming a change without notification means I can push for the entire kitchen to be replaced and tie it into exchange?
Or should I ask them to delay exchange until it’s sorted?
Worktops, unit style and colour agreed.

How were the upgrade and details confirmed, and were there any caveats? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
You have far more pressure against the Developer if you delay Exchange.daffi said:Purchased a new build earlier this year, kitchen was offered a free upgrade.

Do you have written evidence of the agreed kitchen?
Might be worth mentioning to your Conveyancer that the kitchen installed is not as agreed and ask whether you should delay Exchange accordingly.
Assuming this is just changing the units but not the layout of the kitchen, the Developer can rectify this discrepancy without impacting the Exchange within the next two weeks.0 -

I’ve emailed my conveyancer about it already, intend on pushing them hard tomorrow for a way to get this resolved.0 -
You can, and they can say no and put it on the market, new build developers are not usually that bothered about who they sell to so it is worth keeping that in mind.daffi said:Purchased a new build earlier this year, kitchen was offered a free upgrade.

Last plot on this phase, it’s all tied to a quarter end and they’re the ones pushing for completion a week on Friday.MattMattMattUK said:

Well I would not want to move into a new house and more or less immediately faced with kitchen fitters at work.
Might be they will offer compensation for you to accept what is fitted.
Best to talk to them asap.0 -
How is it actually different to what you wanted/expected ?
Could it be a case of the free upgrade not subsequently being available so they have reverted to standard kitchen ?1 -

Cupboards I can live with but they replaced the wood effect counter top with generic white, it looks really bad.LightFlare said:How is it actually different to what you wanted/expected ?
