What is the best offer for very infrequent use of a mobile phone?
The idea is to be able to leave it unused for months without paying anything for it, and when the need arises to use it — mainly for browsing the internet and using apps — so that it costs as little as possible (mainly focusing on fees per MB of data, since SMS and calling are only sporadic).

O2 Classic SIM, search for them on eBay.2

It used to be the case that with PAYG SIMs, you had to make a chargeable action (call, text etc) every xx months - perhaps 6 months. So do double check whether that is the case before leaving it for months on end1

Is the RWG Mobile offer still available with a monthly SIM for £0, including a free bundle (100 minutes, 100 SMS, and 750 MB of data) after a one‑time top‑up of £15 and no monthly fees?0

No, I think that deal stopped a few years ago, though it still works for anyone who got it when it was available.dragonfruit said:Is the RWG Mobile offer still available with a monthly SIM for £0, including a free bundle (100 minutes, 100 SMS, and 750 MB of data) after a one‑time top‑up of £15 and no monthly fees?
The ongoing cheapest deal currently available from RWG is £2/month for 100mins+100text+750MB/month.

RWG disconnected my free sim with free bundle last year with no notice. Glad it wasn't my main sim used for 2FA or I would have been in a real mess.Detail_Merchant said:

Did you make sure to make an outbound call or text very 90 days per the Ts&Cs?Swipe said:RWG disconnected my free sim with free bundle last year with no notice. Glad it wasn't my main sim used for 2FA or I would have been in a real mess.
I didn't at one early point, so I contacted RWG and they explained, and re-activated it, and since then I have a recurring reminder to do so every 2 months.
But luckily that was a while ago when RWG were still responsive.
I agree that I wouldn't want my main sim/number with them. For me it's just a backup sim/number in a dual sim phone.2
