Lebara deals through MSE.

Hi all. I'm withO2 and been offered an inferior 'deal' to a newbie so am looking to leave and at least give another network a go. Only downside is losing Priority but I can live with that as I don't get that much from it. Example this week won 'a movie of my choice on Rakuten' Turns out it is a £4 voucher for a 'movie of my choice' . In other words, rubbish. I understand I can still cash in my airtime rewards balance although not sure if it would be to my Libera account and if it can in effect, run in credit, or if Ill have to withdraw to a bank account possibly with a fee?
Back to my thread, I'm looking at the 100gb Libera deal on mse for £3.75 for first 8 months then £11.90 thereafter. My question is, if after say 8 months I cancel the auto renew, are there any clauses for them to recoup for the 8 months I've had at the discounted price, if I'm not continuing with the deal at the normal price of £11.90?
Has anyone switched from O2 to Libera and what experience have you had with the process?
When keeping your number, what order do you do things in?
Is it get new sim, put in phone to activate, then take out of phone, put your old sim (the number you want to keep) back in phone, text for a PAC then tell Libera somehow(?) and keep running on your old sim until the number ports over (I guess you'll know when the service stops), then put your new sim in and everything's good to go with your old number on your new sim?
Thanks in advance for anyone's advice . All the best.

What is this - a credit with O2? If so, it almost certainly won't be transferrable to another network. You'd have to check the terms with O2 to see how you can cash it in.pedrodelgado said:Hi all. Most of Lebara's deals are monthly rolling - check that's the case and if so you can cancel whenever, jsut pay up to the end of the month. So yes you can just get the discounted price and then switch away after 8 months.pedrodelgado said:Back to my thread, I'm looking at the 100gb Libera deal on mse for £3.75 for first 8 months then £11.90 thereafter. I've switched to and from Lebara, and to and from O2 smoothly in the past. As with everything you'll find the odd person with a horror story, but from what I've heard its not common with either company.
It doesnt' matter that much. I justpedrodelgado said:When keeping your number, what order do you do things in?

1. request the PAC code first, as you have 30 days to use it.
2. Then buy the new sim, give them the code (often can do it as part of the order process or online)
(3. If not then insert new sim, activate and remove again, but often this is not necessary.)
4. Keep old sim in the phone until it goes dead, and that's your trigger to switch sims1 -
Thanks for the info saajan. The credit I refer to is via Airtime rewards app , nothing to do with O2. If you don't use the airtime rewards app, look it up, it may save you some money. It's not as good as it used to be but still worth a look. I earned over £350 over the last 3 years.0

I changed to Lebara from O2 on a £1 a month for the first 6 months deal (£4.90 subsequently) awhile back from MSE, I got the PAC first and I think I put the code in when signing up(?). Everything went very smoothly and never regretted it, the number port went ahead as expected and promised.1

Having delved deeper into the small print regarding EU roaming, Lebara will not be suitable for me.
I use very little data in the UK, mainly being at home on wi fi being retired. Their fair use policy is use in the EU up to 30gb BUT if you use more than your average use over a 120 period , you will be charged for it!!
So if my average at home is 2gb a month, that's all they'll let me roam for free. I could take my phone off wi fy I guess while at home and watch loads of films (or at least play them) to boost my average UK use to 30GB but seems a bit off to me.0 -
Having been with Lebara for a few years and used lots for roaming. I've never had an issue. I'm similar in that most of my home use is Wifi but not abroad. I think that clause is to stop people just buying a sim and only using for roaming but never impacted me.pedrodelgado said:Having delved deeper into the small print regarding EU roaming, Lebara will not be suitable for me.

Hi, I guess you've been lucky . It does specifically say that If you use more data while roaming ,than you normally do in a rolling 120 day period at home then you will be charged extra, even though the headline says 'roaming up to 30gb'.jimjames said:

There are a few threads on here explaining their fair use policy.
I think I'll go for the 10GB one at £1 a month for 8 months then switch back to O2 if a deal comes up after April.
Thanks for everyone for their replies,0 -
pedrodelgado I have been with Lebara a few years and aware of their fair use policy since the very start. But like @jimjames I use very little data at home, usually no more than 500mb per month. Whenever I am in the EU, I may use 2gb or 3gb over the course of a week. I have never had any issues or been subject to any additional charges.0
